Moments later, it is SNOWING here in Newbury, very little if nothing showing on the radar. An intriguing day.

Might be because the stiff easterly breeze is blowing the flurries away from the cloudtops they have formed through, and by time it reaches the ground, its actually a good number of miles away from where it actually fell if that makes sense!

Indeed AWD and I guess, also the dry air causing additional evaporation to which I referred earlier. hi.gif

A snow day is a snow day is a snow day. For Cornwall and more especially for the Lizard, you have got to be pleased with just few flakes on the breeze. I believe you have achieved at least two snow days now. have you not? Still plenty of time for a good deal more yet to come.

Morning, there's the odd flake floating around here but I think if it carried on snowing at this rate, it'd be Xmas 2014 before we had a covering.

I dont think my kids would agree with your definition of a snowday.blum.gif

Haha, for me at least this is technically the 2nd day of seeing snow here in Falmouth this winter. Though you cant really count today but still flurries falling. Doesnt like like it will ever get more than that though. Knew the Met Office would be totally wrong for slapping Heavy snow symbols about west Cornwall though!

Looks like tomorrow could be the best chance of seeing a flurry for some of the region;

Temp 1.4c dp -6.7c Real biting NNE wind. Went out with the dogs across the fields with my daft hat on (needed it) and decided I need a balaclava. Seriously raw cheeks and not just the ones on my face.

Well if Bristol can't get snow, at least it seems to have been in the top 5-10 coldest places in the country the last few days. At the minute it's the coldest on the front page.

However Lulsgate is on considerably higher and exposed ground than in the city! I learnt that when Ian did a report on their weather equipment and

recording a few months ago.

Brighter at the moment than it has been all day, but if anything the wind has increased! Saw a few snow grains while out working this morning.

It certainly is. Quite often a few degrees different to surrounding areas.
