You just have to laugh...

At the start of this week the met and a number of people here said that it would be dry! Though some advanced members were more adiment that snow would fall and in some places enough for a good covering. Still the met said DRY until later in the week, FLURRIES and that's all i've bloody heard is flurries. At times they said of more substantial snowfall in kent but again the headlines " FLURRIES ". I look outside and it's proper snowing at times NOT flurries.

How is it some of the more advanced members of this forum can forecast so so much better than the met office?

Today:

A cold, and generally cloudy day throughout. Some brightness is possible, particularly in the west. A few light wintry showers are expected, mainly in the east with a slight dusting of snow possible in places, especially hills. Cold easterly winds. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Continuing mainly cloudy with occasional light wintry flurries. Some slight accumulations are possible in places, especially near east coasts. Brisk or strong northeasterly winds near coasts. Feeling very cold. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

pretty much what's been forecast all week and what's happening now. splitting hairs i think?

Just went out to garden to defrost the bird water. It is very biting out there.

The beast from the east is more a tame furry rodent at the moment but today was never forecast to be a big day

Saturday was meant to be the main day

Fingers crossed

The key to everything is a Thames streamer, without a Thames streamer can't see more than an inch or two by the end of the weekend outside of Kent but the conditions for a Thames streamer are in place this coming day or so, just what is lacking at the moment is the convection

Yes intensity of flakes increasing here, more apologetic really, if the truth be known!

Though radar taking on a T/Streamer or Thames Estuary Convergence Zone type profile (Ssh!)

concerned that the dandruff snow won't accumulate enough to reach the 1 mm mark on my ruler..(there's 5 mm of plastic before the markings start) I guess Kent will win in the stakes this weekend (-:

That's a pretty imby post to be honest. Here is a radar image at 9:25. As can be seen, it's just a lucky few who are currently getting anything more than inconsequential snow. I also don't remember one member here saying it would be dry this weekend either - all I remember is people talking down expectations?

Epic fail grabbing a forecast from the local area TODAY, some people really do suck up to the met office on this forum and it's got to stop, they are not immortal

Intensity's really picked up here with occasional fat flakes mixed in.

Occasional on-and-off flurries, here; pretty much in accordance with the Met's expectations...Any more than 6 cm, and they might be in danger of getting things wrong...good.gif

I am happy with looking out the window and seeing the snow.

The chances of a big dump tonight on Gillingham makes me smile !
