You must virtually be able to reach out and touch the ppn, oh the suspense!

Tom.

Hopefully the cold will undercut the ppn, so that anything that does fall, falls as snow!

Even if none of it lands that will do nicely. After all it is march.

Happy just to see the flakes falling to be honest... Very rare that it settles on the ground here anyway.

Let's face it - this now looks like a non-event for most of the SE (with the low now tracking way to the south and convection off the North Sea being very weak). Another 12 hours or so needed to confirm in case of a backtrack but it looks like being cold, breezy and dry for MOST of our region.

Hey ho - there's always next winter to look forward to

why not just wait and see

instead of doing my ramp charts i will do these instead

13031012_2_0918.gif

13031018_2_0918.gif

13031112_2_0918.gif

13031118_2_0918.gif

rofl.gifrofl.gif

also dew points for monday

13031112_0918.gif

brrrrrrrrr

The Monday charts leave me completely bemused. It shows pretty much East Anglia/South East in the firing line with North East England, Eastern Scotland with diminishing snow amounts. Completely the opposite to the metoffice warnings

They obviously expect East Anglia to be in no mans lands between the frontal system and the clear, showery weather. I'm still shocked how a bbc forecast during the early evening can give a forecast of frequent snow showers for a time frame about 12 hours away and then a few hours later completely erase that prediction.

Suppose i better have a look then!...............nothing! BBC dropping the showers for tomorrow but keep going with the snow for Monday (perhaps)

They have updated the forecast on the bbc website (time 00:09), guess what, the snow showers are back.

So let me get this straight, 2 weather forecasts about 10 minutes apart are giving two different forecasts for the weather in this region tomorrow.

I.... errr.... ummm.....what

Well at least it keeps us guessing which is more fun then knowing 100% what will happen.

Fantastic, Buntingford is yet again the barrier.

Would that be the same Buntingford that had the most snow in England over the winter 2011-12 by any chance?

hi captain

the truth is with all the technology they have if all the

different models vary it becomes a very last minute call

its amazing 1 low can cause all this confusion

as i have said lots of times

get the right conditions then watch the radars

its our best tool

also remember met office warnings can pop up at very short notice

i really would not want to give a forecast to local councils on this at present

Light precip arrived about 20 mins ago and the temps dropped from 2.7 to 2.1c in last 10 mins. Might just stay up for a little while longer!!

The person presenting the weather on the bbc Alina Jenkins shall forever be named as Vicky Pollard.

Yeah but no but yeah but no but........ rofl.gif

I suppose the 2 inches of rain we have had here was only forecasted on Thursday. So these undercutting low setups pretty much make a fool out of the models.

Whats the line of precip traveling se from wales doing, not get it'll get down here, but it seems to be acting slightly like a streamer.

Must admit that's a great 01:00 forecast from the bbc if its snow you're after.

Heavy snow showers or longer spells of snow tomorrow most of the day and as we head into monday that channel low giving snow as far north as London.

Great update considering it is march.

Right enough ranting. Off to bed. The good news is that after nearly 36 hours of constant rain/sleet/snow. It has finally stopped. It's quite shocking that the rain event of the past day or so has been completely overshadowed. One of the main roads in South Norfolk (A146) is closed due to flooding. That doesn't happen that often.

^Just saw the 1:30 forecast on news24, same. What happened with the midnight forecast on there haha.
