Getting the snow to fall further south tomorrow is one thing, but getting it to settle is another. Apparently it's been snowing all day in Greater Manchester but not actually settling, so maybe the case tomorrow - particularly for Greater London. If precip is heavier enough though, then we may see a better case for settling.

The wet bulb is zero according to the GFS, settling should not be a problem.

The Express is erm, one hell off a paper. It is that bad I wouldn`t even make paper mache out of it. Must be a fun job headline writing though.

Ian F has just noted in the SW thread that the signal for snow to the North of London is strengthened on the latest models.

Had a little mooch around the other regional threads earlier as I was hoping to see lots of snow pics, there were a few, but considering what's been going on everywhere bar the S/SE, I'm surprised there wasn't more. Maybe our SE corner has more active members, but we love to show our pics (and talk bholloxks). Maybe we're more prone to ramping, but there seemed to be very little excitement considering the potential. I, for one, am very happy to be in this neck of the woods with you lot :)

Unless the ground is sopping wet, which would mean heavy persistent snow is required for accumulations...

Heavy wet snow here, accumulating on anything but roads and pavements, temperature -0.1C

What I can tell you is that the snowline is Ware, Hertfordshire...North. I was driving in rain up the A10 and hit Ware and it was snowing hard.

I suspect some altitude will help here, surface level settling probably early hours of the morning, but as we get towards midday you've got to think that things will tip towards it not settling unless it really does come down. Higher up, especially in the Chilterns may well have better luck...

My plan is head up to higher ground in the Chilterns reasonably early in the morning and see what we have...I'd have thought at 200M+ there will be a decent bit more in the way of snow settling.

True, with air temps above freezing, yes a soggy landing. An hour of heavy precipitation to easily settle then followed by mild should see at least something white on the floor. I know where you are coming from though.

Evening all. It's a bit cold and breezy in Naaaaarich at the mo. But it's nothing compared to how windy it was in Ippy earlier today. It was freezing cold and so windy it blew the babies dummy out of her mouth. :D Honest! I was in hysterics.

Hope it doesn't snow. I have a photo assignment tomorrow......in the local cemetery. :o

Have a brilliant week-end everyone. :D

I think it's looking like this at the moment. Obviously elevation and stuff helps as well.
