Can't wait for it to start getting colder so it can settle on the roads again!

It's amazing how localised this all is. A little village outside of Ware in the valley had hardly any snow, as soon as I started climbing up the valley edge, the surroundings got snowier and snowier.

Snowing here for ages decent pace still can't settle after a quick thaw.

Heaviest snow of this current spell so far I think at the mo - thick with big flakes and trying to settle.

Very localized, I have seen posts from Stevenage, Ware and yourself saying its snowing yet been bone dry here at them times,

I am now starting to get the heaviest snow i have seen today, but from the melt earlier struggling to settle

It looks to me like the area of snow looks to drift slowly north - mainly to the north of the Thames/M4 over next 24 hrs before fizzling out tomorrow.

Snow starting again here, biggish flakes.

Where hasnt it settled ?

I think the southern extend has been over done looks like a band of remaining snow will push west and fizzle out.

Not really settling this afternoon, the surface temp a little too high now, which is always a problem when the intensity of snow doesn't maintain long enough to get the surface down to 0C.

I agree, the snow looks unlikely to extend as far south as GFS suggests, latest 12z NAE and earlier 00z ECM closer to the truth. It looks like anywhere seeing snow currently will continue to see snow over next 12 hrs - although tending to become lighter and more patchy in nature as we head into Sunday, more like the odd flurry tomorrow.

Nick - do you think in essex we'' get further snow settling overnight ?

Obviously the race leads for my running race in Essex tomorrow have been tipped off that shouldn't be too bad overnight (from a viewpoint of snow sticking on roads) - but we've currently got the heaviest snow of the day

thanks
