Snow over Sheffield moving steadily North Westwards.

I can't see us getting much more from this system now.

Possibly another spell of very light snow overnight but nothing significant although I'm more than happy with what we already have.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get out with the camera and take some photos of what has been a truly memorable event, certainly IMBY.

We finally have 1/2 a mm on the bonnet of the car! Hope it picks up a bit and by the morning if we scrape the cars, garden furniture and windowsills we might have enough for a whole snowball!

Come on snow! I didn't wear my thermal socks today for nothing! ;)

Had my friends on the phone from Vivod hill near Lllangollen, they are really panicking as there is a level meter in snow and 9ft snow drifts. They have no power, nothing, so when they send me pics i will send them over. She said that she can't see her fence anymore and that is 1m high, she seems pretty scared. I've been trying to find how high that hill is but can't find it. I doubt she is lying as it is a very high hill in north east Wales where it didnt stop for two days.

Still snowing in Mold in N E Wales. Up to 47cm now on level ground, well, the garden table anyway. Very wierd and sure I won't see it again in my lifetime.

Well if you have half a metre then 1 metre for a little village up in the hills sounds pretty plausible i suppose.

P.s Been out all day, can anyone help with that belt of snow to the east, is it suppose to move across to us. Going by its trajectory it looks like it could but is i forecast to or is it meant to die out?

Managed to get to Somerset, there was absolutely no snow betweeen Knutsford and Sandbach on the M6 and then all hell was let loose!!

Snow in Bacup this morning was unbelievable, well I should say that the wind was. Pictures following.

Coming back on Monday which could be fun!!

Yes, I know Vivod really well, very steep and narrow road up from Llangollen, would be difficult to get anything up there with that level of snow. Spoke to a Scottish Power engineer today who said there are so many isolated communities in the Llangollen and Corwen area that it'll take days to get them all back on. Main problem they have is getting to the trees that have fallen on the lines.

24hr overlay showing the winners and losers.

Shows again quite clearly as the sat pic posted during the last event the areas that are prone to the shadow effect. Same area over Manchester and Preston with little or no snow. Obviously not down to constant bad luck, but more a combination of the wind direction and the angle of the approaching front.

Anyway lack of snow not of main concern England 80/5 and looking like following on, not great.
