Instability levels tomorrow peaking at 400-500J/kg during the afternoon, this means risk of thunderstorms but low risk at that.

Evening all

Playing around with music tonight as I often do, ended up with ELO Mr Blue Sky, a song that always makes me smile but which I also find stupidly moving, probably because of its unbelievable optimism. After a cold and bleak winter it seems wildly appropriate and has cheered me up no end so I have indulgently decided to paste a link to the lyrics and a link to the song itself and I can recommend it as balm for the soul, and it is just about weather related.

BTW I remember putting the album on my parents' 'gramophone' with a few friends round in 1977/8 and whilst we all pretended that we wanted to listen to pink vinyl Generation X singles (which I still own), we all ended up back listening to this!

Morning Steve and everyone.

Would be worth enduring this miserable crapola for a crack of thunder. So fingers crossed someone gets lucky. :)

We're having sunny intervals here, so hopefully they'll provide the trigger for some big showers :)

Morning all,

Just grey and dreary here at work on the Southbank.  Fingers crossed we get to see some lightning and hear some thunder this afternoon - I've missed radar watching for storms  laugh.png

And you wouldn't believe how long it's taken me to post the above!!  Thank goodness pressing F5 about 20 times finally did the trick!  help.gif

Good morning everyone.

The rain woke me several times last night it was so heavy.

The sun is actually trying very hard to break through but have very thick cloud cover. Will be running for cover this afternoon if those thunderstorms kick off. blush.png

Same here, proper April sunshine and showers good.gif

Happy Friday folks and Happy 50th birthday to Robin (aka Coast) I'm not sure the cake will keep until he's back from NY so we might have to eat it between us...

No thunderstorms please! Only like Either snowy and cold or dry and hot; -) the former we've lacked all winter so hoping the later will come to fruition at some point this summer lol

Morning all

Mostly grey and quite breezy in Reigate. The sun was briefly out but now back in hiding. Off to Brighton later for a couple of nights - should be able to see the shower clouds building up in the Channel today but I fear tomorrow will be mostly wet and pretty windy on the coast. Never mind, sea air is sea air, even if it is full of rain, salt, seaweed and the odd mangled styrofoam cup thrown overboard from a cross channel ferry!

Morning all, just looking at the fax chart this morning, I'm wondering just how much sun we might see on Sunday, the front looks very close on the midday chart.

will certainly be quite warm as well as windy but not sure about sunny and the UKMO ppn chart even shows rain for that time.

ECM ppn charts looks clear for Sunday

and GFS0.5 6Z looks clear and warm.
