Afternoon all,

Cloud has been breaking up during the morning, leaving hazy sunshine, currently 10.5C.

Looking forward to the weekend with the weather warming-up, Met Office currently going for 18C on Sunday for here with sunny spells. GFS has temperatures rising into the mid-teens at least from Sunday onwards. ECM suggestive of similar values.

The output looks great for a decent spell of dry, fairly warm and useable weather IMO! :)

Just been for a walk along the canal. Actually let me re-phrase that to avoid any intimations of divinity; I have just been for a walk alongside the canal. Still a slight chilliness in the air but the hint of very pale-washed green around some of the trees seen from afar, bargees out on their boats, a dust-dry towpath and the sun on my back as I returned. Not half bad. This time next week, it could be not a quarter bad or perhaps even no badness at all. Imagine that!

The sun is about ready to come out over Sussex

Grab your T-shirt and swimmers, the sun looks set to finally shine on Sussex.

Forecasters have said the temperature could reach a positively heatwave- esque 20 degrees centigrade on Sunday and again on the weekend of April 21 and 22. The county has been shivering in recent months with the coldest March in half a century. Photos showed how Brighton beach was swamped with tourists enjoying the sun 12 months ago but this year the pebbles were abandoned with the deep freeze.

Snow flurries fell over Easter as the wintry weather refused to release its grip. And then when the mercury did eventually rise this week, it came with wet and windy conditions. But there might finally be a reprieve, with temperatures likely to rise and the sun coming out in the next fortnight. Weathermen are now predicting a major shift on Sunday, with temperatures climbing.

Some rain will persist next week but the weekend of April 21 and 22 could bring more sunshine. This would be a huge boost for the coast’s tourism trade, which is still suffering from last summer’s washout as well as this year’s late spring. The Easter bank holiday weekend, normally a booming time for Brighton and Hove, was deathly quiet for businesses. Some of the seafront premises did not even open their doors as the footfall was so low. But while businesses might rejoice, the police could find the sun has come out at the worst time.

The March for England demonstration, this year planned along the seafront, is set to happen on April 21. The Met Office was cautiously optimistic about the prospects of some sunshine but confirmed the south would see the best of any dry weather in the forthcoming fortnight. A spokesman said: “Southern and eastern parts are most likely to be driest with the best of the sunshine and becoming warm inland as a result.â€

Seriously...who would of thought a large lump of rain was only an hour or so away? Blue skies above with Altostratus looking South-West.
