Miserable cold wet morning here. Temp 4.4c with a stiff wind.  Snow could be falling on the tops.

Dachstein, Stairway to Heaven if you dare venture to the edge. Not for me, but you can see Grossglockner  and the mountain tops of Slovenia to the far south and Czech Republic up north.

 Ready for some Austrian Profeson. My favourite sweet dish. Pan fried brioche, eggs, vanilla and jam . Its naughty but nice !

The Stubaier Glacier in full drip mode today.  Currently taking a battering exposed to bright sun and very high September temperatures this past week.

The sun returned yesterday after a couple days of rain and cloud. Temps back to nearer normal levels but the warmth returns today. Picture from the  cattle farm a bit lower down the valley still shows an abundance of grass fodder to consume. No better site than watching animals munching away in the sunshine.

Picture this morning from the village. A few more cm of overnight snowfall. Temp just below freezing and cold enough for snow making machine to operate. -3c on the berg. Beautiful  sunny crisp stat to the day.

Looks simply awesome!!Thanks so much for continually sending these beautiful pictures of Austria both in summer and Winter.I went there for my one and only ski holiday 30 years ago to Soll but smashed my knee halfway through the holiday and unfortunately never been able to ski again!!But it’s a beautiful country and seeing all the snow there received each winter partly makes up for the lack of it here in a funny sort of way

That doesn't happen very often, lovely new snow fall, then some beautiful copper coloured  fresh fall leaves on top of the snow.

Really showing early autumn snow fall.

I am wondering if this is the best amount of snow before December for a good many years.

As I remember sometimes very little snow until almost xmas some years.

There was very deep cover early Dec 2020. Could be the heaviest for sometime for November ending. Definitely more snow at altitude over the past 10 years or so compared to 1990s/2000 period. Unfortunately , most restricted to 500m and above these past winters.

These photos are the best advert I’ve seen for a winter holiday in Austria.  Wish I was younger.
