Interesting enough the overnight forecast was nearer the mark than the morning update. The forecast before six had rain much more widespread while Carole's forecast had it mostly west of the Pennines before moving into the Midlands and later this evening London. It's moved quicker been more widespread than shown by Carol K.

An appalling day for late June.

Cold, cloudy wet and windy with a temp of 11.3c, could be mid-Nov out there.

That pretty much sums it up for my location as well.It actually felt genuinely cold this morning.

Sunny this morning, but slowly turning hazy ahead of the warm front, still hazy at around 12 noon. Cloud levels thickened and lowered into the afernoon with spells of rain, not massively heavy for the most part but drizzly, still damp and a bit misty outside. Precip total 6-7mm.

Temps hit 19c for a while, but cooled steadily into the afternoon to 13c by 5.

    • Exceptional warmth for western Europe as October begins

There'll be exceptionally warm temperatures for the time of year affecting much of western Europe during the coming days, but that warmth will only graze the UK for now. Next weekend may see a more direct hit with the potential for southerly winds to draw some of that heat north and take temperatures into the mid or high-twenties. Read the full update here
