Storms to the West, storms to the East....and still nothing in the centre, and it's been like this all bloody day, this is the second night I've stayed up and I've just about had enough now, one has got the hump.

Are you able to see the lightning to the east at all? Have seen two flashes so far but it's pretty far off and not heading this way.

What is the mechanism that causes t-storms to build at night?

Destabilization of the heatwave due to lower pressure/troughs

I know the feeling :) Sat up two nights on the run and nothing in my area . Hoping that the channel may spark something that will head across central southern England . Nothing yet

The lightning needs to pick up n these storms like the ones to the east did.

Noticed something very weird between Glasgow and Newry in Northern Ireland when looking at the rainfall radar. Obviously a glitch, but I found it kind of interesting.

Please excuse quality of picture. For some reason it wouldn't copy properly when I was editing it.

Heard some very distant thunder about 7-8pm yesterday evening, but very little activity until those two flashes 30 mins ago, and no thunder heard with those. Infact it's clear overhead here. No doubt there's been more lightning, but have to be up for work in 3 1/2 hours and need to get some sleep. Can't really justify staying up much longer.

At least just ly there in bed! then that's relaxing a bit. back on topic some storms would be on/off in intensity, it really is very energized up there now.

Moderate-heavy rain and just seen about 10-15 lightning strikes to the east, not particularly exciting really when you see lightning once every 150 seconds

Think I give up hope now.

Aylesbury has had naff all. A few distant rumbles and a couple flashes. Seems to have formed around us and moved north. I'm a major storm lover so it hurts :( lol.
