So glad western areas finally got something after many members thought they'd be missing out!

Haven't had one drop of rain here and seen no storms here, Which is disappointing... Not really seeing much chance for the south coast, unless we import something from France.

Going dark here in Belper, heavy shower directly south of me which is developing quickly. No sferics yet though.

To think that 12 hours ago, most of us on here started having doubts, figuring 'oh well, its tomorrow when things are meant to really kick off'. Then what followed was 12 hours of mother nature doing putting on one of the best light shows most of us have ever seen Posted Image

Some of us are still saying "oh well, it's tomorrow when things are meant to really kick off". The thundery breakdown has so far been a few spits and spots of rain. Maybe 2014 will be better.

Can't believe how dismal the NE'rs are at reporting any storms like - there's one rattling away near Boro and no spotters!  On the other hand I am like a broken record Posted Image

Been looking at radar all morning, and unless something else kicks off in South Wales most of Shropshire and midwales looks to have done very poorly out of this spell since last night. All the forecasts on this thread today have us too far west too, so looks like a day of casting envious eyes at people potentially getting MCS's.

A couple of rumbles at 5.30 was much less than I would have liked and a chance to show my 4 year old there first storm will have to wait a bit longer!

Nothing here on the coast although the sky is turning darker. Looks like the main ppn is going to miss us here. I'm hopeful the line off Scarborough intensifies and reaches us.

Something is currently developing just over South London (near Brixton/Herne Hill/Loughborough Junction). It seems to be shifting north now. Not sure whether this one will produce anything other than heavy rain but one to watch.

Amazing cloudscapes this morning. I can see blue sky and I can see building cumulus congestus to my immediate north west through the gaps in the merkiness. :-)

Hello, first post from me. I live in North Wiltshire, near Royal Wootton Bassett. Was reading the previous thread last night when it all started near me (4 miles east of Lyneham).

Here are some photos of the storm that passed over Calne at 2210Z.

Quite pleased with my first attempts at lightning photos.

Well that was a nice way to be shaken from bed! Looks like the show is in 'interval' but the fun and games are already forming to my south for part 2!

Look at al that juicyness off the NE coast - going to waste!

Actually they appear to be merging and moving west anyone else notice that?

3-4 hours of storms since 4.00am. Torrential rain and a number of roads have flooded. Our power is out.

Just goes to show how hit and miss these events can be. I'm over in Aylesbury town centre and we've not even had a rumble, although looking through the radars, it's kicked off all around us within 10 miles!!!

Bugger all in MK too, nothing all night apart from a faint rumble 15miles away and lots of dramatic distant lightning. Here the sky is clearing and looks like the sun will be out soon. Oh the joy, what the hell happened last night is beyond me, MK was in a prime location, my only thought is perhaps the chilterns & aylesbury vale to the south & sw disrupted anything before it developed.
