No sferics now for 9 minutes!! Was quite funny as it all just stopped as if someone switched all the storms off!

Maybe we should all save our pennies and go storm chasing in the USA Posted Image

Or get paid to do so by privatised companies/universities ;)

They get equipment tested out and we get a free fortnight's chasing in the states.

To all the people moaning about getting 'just one or two flashes and a couple of rumbles' - that is more than I've had this year!!! I'd be very happy just to get that tonight.

Well there are still lots of close sferics on my AM radio but there isn't a lot on the lightning detectors. Maybe something is firing up again. Currently not far from Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Could it be that CG's are picked up on detectors better than CC's ? I think so. Tuning into LW is something I used to do when we had MCS/storms each summer years ago it would pick up the sferics/lightning over in France.. getting louder, I'd keep the volume the same as to indicate them getting closer. Today I tried MW did get the fuzzy crackles from the storms today inland. I do like those long fuzzy crackles!!

This thread is hilarious - never have I seen so much moaning and despair on a single thread.

I do sometimes wonder, NS...Here we are, in the thunderstorm capital of the UK - and, what do we get, zilch!Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Looking at the radar it seems to be moving through some parts quickly now less intense now for parts of the south as well

Still struggling to see where this heavy rain for the NE is coming from can someone help here there isn't many deep red's on the radar now so I assume they expect it to intensify again over the NE?

The system is moving at a fair rate now bearing in mind the heaviest stuff isn't due till around 5am according to the beeb for the NE

Small LP now formed over SE England...

...expected to move up the Eastern side of England and deepen as it does so..

3am..

....to lie just off the NE coast by tomorrow morning...

Rainfall should intensify, especially in Eastern areas as the low develops.

Me thinks its the north sea's fault

Won't blame the north sea especially when thinking about winter! it is then helpful when you want the snow.. Posted Image with the warmer seas after the heatwaves more convection this winter?.. (snow)

Even the rain was rubbish - virtually stopped now. Belgium seems to have nicked all our thunder.
