Things are certainly brewing up over north west France, ugly red echoes on the radar tracking into the Channel towards the English coast

They certainly are.....

Radar look impressive to our S already. And a few strikes thrown in the mix.  Lovely dew points, Cape and warm uppers all in the pot as well. Could get interesting later..

Looks like I could be heading in the right direction at the end of the working day.

Interesting  - it is one of those days with an enriched low level moisture feed in as well. We have the sun breaking through the low fast moving cloud from the SE. Reminds me of the LLJ in TX.

I have a funny feeling that today will end up a cracker for some. Already new cells forming ahead of the main band.

Just flown into LHR from Brazil and the turbulence when passing over NW France was pretty crazy! Pilots warned of thunderstorms later today....looking good :)

Looks like Cornwall in line for a hit soon from Thunderstorms crossing the channel

Those new cells have really developed in the last 20 mins - looking like a measle rash about to hit the SW.

Looking good for some, hopefully it won't end in tears like it often does, we often see a build up for it only to decay as it moves in, however I don't think so this time!

The warnings have been updated by the MetOffice. A slight shuffle about on areas covered, it looks better for those in the East now too. Posted Image

Are we not a bit too far north for this one?

Should be. Sadly but something to watch this morning.

Certainly springing to life this morning down there. Question is...will it keep it's energy as it moves inland...?

I've just switched my lightning detector on, it's picking up a some strikes around 40 miles away at the moment. I guess it's the activity that's just perked up further along the line of rain in the channel?! :)
