Well you should have a calm interlude for most of tomorrow, if you can sort it then. Posted Image

cheers, someone has tied it to another post temporarily.

Evening all

Exciting day in Cambridge at another job interview, the first of 3 in 3 days Posted Image

Off to Nottingham, weather looks good, and I only got a little damp in Cambridge after being hit by a light shower

good luck.

959 low showing there after it passes us Posted Image

but the isobar tightening over us is what needs watching

maybe the fax charts later will help

john

Hi JP,

I wonder if the fax will follow UKMO later, could be interesting. UKMO are starting to look a little bit isolated over the storm track now. But classic autumnal set up at the moment, not to everyone's taste but never boring. I think the recent deluges have been far more bearable than usual as the temps have stayed high, wet and windy with temps 17/18c much nicer than 10/11C. Can't remember the last time I saw so many rainbows in the one week!

Looking forward to another action packed winter.Posted Image

if  the  model thread  right we  might  have  to batten  the hatches  down after  2morow  things could get a bit wild!!!

Bit early in the year for me to be venturing into the Model thread, its like the Daily Express on speed!

But as JP says it's worth watching.

Yes, just seen it John. Talking about potential for very stormy, which seems fair enough. My thinking is it's about a 30 or 40% chance. Ingredients need to come together. All very interesting though.

Hi John,

Dont know about snow but Croydon can get pretty scary in high winds. I remember 1990 when part of the town centre was closed off due to windows being blown out and scaffolding/tarpaulins becoming unsafe, around Wellesley Road and West Croydon Bus Station. Also last year the tarpaulin attached around scaffolding on the Town Hall was partly ripped away.

This fellow was the culprit for the 1990 event (Burns' Day storm).

Think there was quite a bit of damage throughout the town, John.

Tom.

And I remember going shopping on Oxford Street that day - wondering why no-one else was around, and seeing hoardings being blown into plate glass windows.

I think we all should be prepared either way. Come Saturday we will have a better idea of its potential, But i'm looking at it this way 50mph is strong enough and dangerous "not pleasant". Saturday will now be a day of moving things outside etc AND not parking my car under a tree or near.
