I feel that some of the reports of upland snow cover are in fact hail cover from last night, as it is hard to tell the difference from a few miles away.

Good hail shower here just, temperature as stated above colder inland just 4.4c so sleet or wet snow in the showers is possible this afternoon.

Oh and the anemometer survived intact it was just not picking up the stronger gusts for some reason, roof turbulence perhaps?

Had some crazy hail and rain last night! Calmer this morning but a balmy 7.3C so will just be rain and hail showers here!

Look out for TL too plenty of sferics in the band especially Cardigan Bay!

Incredible stuff around Barmouth and Dolgellau must be some really heavy hail and thunder going on!

Heavy band of showers due to hit west Wales mid day pushing westwards with rain hail  Thunder lightening and wet snow in the heavier bursts, could give a temporary covering any were,Don"t you just love UK weather!

 

No I don't! If its not raining its blowing a gale...or its doing both together....novelty of this autumnal weather has well and truly worn off.

Temp has gone right up to 6.1c here now, will have to be some very heavy precip to see anything wintry, although temp should start to decrease shortly as the sun is past its peak.

1cm diameter hail in the last shower - most impressive! Rain shower the latest one temp down to 3.1c/ DP 2.0c so sleet not far off.

Was a pretty epic 5mins of heavy hail here before turning back to moderate rain. A slight hint of ice or sleet in the rain, temp is down to 3.9c with a dp of 0.6c.

This is a pleasant surprise - quite heavy snow continues and is even starting to create a slushy accumulation on the lawn!

Good covering of hail, one massive rumble of thunder, then rain has mixed with a little wet snow now, an eventful day so far.

Do not understand how some cannot appreciate this mixed weather..bigger whiter flakes now!
