There was me thinking we had a 'stay of execution' as the low has developed another centre on the 12z and is further west, taking the winds further south? Looking at those wind charts that Lorenzo has just put up, I think  I am up the Clyde on a banana boat!

Make sure that banana boat makes port before noon tomorrow Blitzen! Posted Image

Hi all,

haven't posted for a while. Just been having a read through the recent posts, some excellent information and opinions on what the next two days will bring.

As you would expect, a fair bit of snow on some of the higher routes.

Here are some of Traffic Scotlands recent A9 Traffric Cam images.

it surely has to be a good sign just now that the last two years we have been seeing wintry stuff on a westerly as when the AMO flips to cold then we should see more with the SST's being lower at the surface?

I've been thinking of taking a drive up the A9 between here and Perth to see what I can find but last time I was up that road it cost me £100 and 3 points on my license.

EDIT: we might get a decent FI from GFS this run

Standing around at bus stops hasn't been fun today.  Hail, sleet, now snow and a wee flash bang wollop overhead for good measure.

My partner has just phoned after driving from Glasgow to Dundee and said the Local Constabulary are out in force. As well as the wind speeds, better watch your

own speed !

Once again Ally your DP significantly depressed relative to mine in the Glen Almond (2.6C/1.5C).

Jeepers, there's too many double entendres in there to cope with!

right just a little something I have noticed on the GFS which I am posting a few charts on and done a little paint.

right do we remember the post I made a few days back where the GFS was showing the same for 3 runs with the high in atlantic and on US eastern seaboard well this will tie in with that.

0z 384hr notice the two highs I have arrowed

post-18233-0-99443800-1387732280_thumb.p

6z again the two highs moving round to position

post-18233-0-88216400-1387732281_thumb.p

the 12z now the kicker and if you remember the post from the other day where the 3 runs were really similar well its popped up again but with a little helping hand

BLACK ARROWS = high pressures

YELLOW ARROW = movement of PV segment

PURPLE ARROW = the added kicker from the previous post I did.

post-18233-0-59597200-1387732282_thumb.p

might mean nothing but its funny how we saw this 3 consecutive runs a few days back and here it is popped up again.

maybe just a blip but maybe something to keep an eye on.

EDIT: also notice low heights wanting to push into europe

I'm just getting in deeper here so can you just explain what it shows?Posted Image

yes AO and NAO are both on the slide

watch the pattern in my post before as I think with these both being forecast to slide that might just be the pattern and possibly Greenland heights

also would add the 12z GFS keeps the warming in the Canadian sector of the strat aswell

Magic, first decent snow of Winter here. Radar looks amazing for other parts of Scotland, sferics going off and a whole gang of convective cells off the coast.
