think the ski resorts have been getting it good today

Unfortunately we had no power again today after heavy snow and strong winds brought down power lines in the area... http://fb.me/2NzXNjjgK

Anyone actually know where we're at with this thing? Can't get any info on the storm thread because they are all banging on about comparisons with the St. Jude's storm!

It looks pretty bad for a lot of places but as usual it's, location, location, location.  I saw the beeb actually mention north-west Scotland which suggests it may be bad there, and the youngish male presenter used the b-word, first time I'd heard that from that source.

Anyone actually know where we're at with this thing? Can't get any info on the storm thread because they are all banging on about comparisons with the St. Jude's storm!  As far as I can tell, GFS was the only model with a dual centre? which appeared to downgrade the situation slightly for us. Other models still going with at least

930mbs and NOAA at 924mbs?

its a case of wait and see as its only just starting to wind up and like with the storm down south earlier we need to see how it interacts with the surroundings as we saw with that storm it downgraded really close in and didn't hit.

I think we will defo be below 940mbs we will just have to wait till 00 hr to see what we actually get down to.

The temperature did drop enough and we did get a wee bit of wet snow about 4.30 this afternoon. Seems to be clearing now with more stars appearing and the temperature is dropping. My wife saw a flash earlier, which I missed as I was making the dinner so can back up reports from several others.

This evening I'm posting a song by a Glasgow band called 'The Happy Particles'. They made one album and have since split up, so not a happy ending... The song is called 'Slowness'. Such a lovely song and a favourite of my wife.

Enjoy!Posted Image

Liked the countryfile forecast quote 'Rain readily turning to snow for Scotland'..

Few images also from Eumetsat.

The RGB airmass shows the descending cold stratospheric air which will assist the system in bombing.

Finally the WV image with the low circled.

Seem to have been in the sweet spot here for a change.  Hasn't stopped for the last couple of hours and still coming down heavy.

Well down here, the earlier wet snow has now turned back to sleet and everything is soaking wet.

Snow here at last! And more to come judging by the radar. And a day off tomorrow to play in it. And darling wife had offered to go do Christmas food shop before breakfast tomorrow, hero.

ETA: Have a safe one LS. We will all need your valuable input for much of this week I think!
