The red sky told you the weather would turn bad later. Still quite a clear sky here, but can see cloud approaching from the west.

I forgot about the red sky in the morning warning, something to do with a fisherman or shepherdPosted Image

Indeed, as it shows the cloud moving in.

Still mild outside (9.8c) although the wind today seem to have taken the edge off as there was very little sunshine due to a number of showers which have been passing through.  At least the intensity of rain has dropped to provided some welcome relief to the areas which were flooded a week or so ago.  It crossed my mind today that there are many people now coping with the problems after the water has left their houses and how quick the news channels dropped the story when the water started to go down and problems in other parts of the world took the headlines.

Couldn't agree more Chris.

Sign of the time 24 hour rolling news  --  run the same story for up to 24 hours, change it slightly if it's still happening, then change it before the newswatchers get bored.  Sod the consequences.

But hey, the weather's OK.  In Weybridge for the week and it's mild but damp.

Still over 10C at home

Good evening

A sunny day here, with a sharp dare I say, Spring-like feel, but a pleasant day nonetheless. Work done and the rest of the week off, always fills me with procrastination, where to start, what to do. Hard to shut the mind down from work, when so much will need to be done when you get back!

My little sis is abit of a tattoo collector. She asked me to look up some Latin phrases which could associate with her love of family. I'm doing latin (in a horticultural sence) but searched the inter web for some interesting translations and I found this one, which seemed really apt for Snowlady and her family for tomorrow. I wish you well and send positive thoughts.

I was about to post the same, my friend's tortoise has come out of hibernation but usually it doesn't come out till end of March/April, I just hope it will be ok, and that it won't suddenly get very cold again.

Hello to fellow SE thread addicts.

There are some early signs of blossom on spring-flowering trees - wow, what a change from last year when spring took forever to arrive, our friendly local farmshop saying that everything was at least three weeks late all spring and summer. And as for the potatoes - rubbish they were, and up to £13 a sack at one stage, though back to the normal £7.50 now. I'm heartened by some spring-like weather, though it looks like we still have a bit of Atlantic dross to put up with here and there. Walking the doggies has been a pleasure, though the underfoot (and paw) surface leaves something to be desired.

Daffs and crocuses (crocii?) out in force now. However, the grass would easily win the snow cup if it were, er, made of snow. Still far to wet to mow though. Will need a scythe i reckon - maybe I can borrow it from one of the four horsemen of the apocolypse (Express, Guardian, anybody in government who raises taxes from AGW scaries, Chris Huhne, cos he's on holiday in Vietnam, but presumably cycled there).

Best of luck to Snow Lady tomorrow - hope it all goes well for you.

Hi all, been away from the forums for a week or two. Went to Wales (Porthcawl) over the weekend bit didn't see too many flooded fields from the M4. Weather's been quite nice of late! Actually been out at lunch at work in just my shirt - no jacket which was nice. Just had a few gusts just now though and my parents in Wexford are worrying about strong winds after my dad started putting up their fences today after it was completely destroyed over the last few weeks. Doesn't seem too bad on my dad's weather station so far though.

I've given up giving people forecasts though as I keep looking the fool. Once moment it's "oooh might be a nice week this week" then it rains. Or "oooh looking colder next week - even the odd wintry shower!" then it rains and stays over 10'C :|
