Probably will be Paul but I prefer to wait to see what happens first before calling it.Just been watching a storm on Earthcam off the coast of Lauderdale got pretty active as it moved away and will probably be the only lightning I will see today but can hope something happens here later.

Morning Luke, have a look at the radar now bud, things are starting to happen....I'm not that great at geography but there's the odd sferic detection in your neck of the woods?

Some sporadic sferics being detected in the SE near the coast and with the main band of precipitation not due until later this afternoon/evening, there may be a few lucky people, if rather hit and miss.

Seems a bit too weak personally but you never know...

Sun breaking through at times here now so hopefully we can tap into some convective energy but it probably will be too cloudy still as usual in this set up.

Met office are showing bands of showers pushing westwards this afternoon, I would not be surprised to see some thunder and lightning associated with these. If they come north then I may get a last minute chase out of it, but currently everything too far south for me to consider chasing.

A reasonable thunderstorm, several flashes and thunder claps. Nothing spectacular but pleasing nonetheless.

nice little storm....elevated in nature with some bright flashes of lightning and around 20 rumbles, 2 of which were almost overhead. This little complex is maintaining strength and trundling westwards towards Bristol....Radar shows more thundery rain developing over the south east with embedded sferics

edit....recent sferic detections © netweather.tv

Notable RF rates across the south currently with sharp forced ascent ahead of the cold front, resulting in sporadic lightning over Wilts where deeper convection develops.  Assessment yesterday holding up in that respect, though didn't anticipate t'storm activity earlier on today.  Severe convective risk still exists with favorable wind fields and continued forcing from the CF over the next few hours.

Awaiting the squall line, should come through here in the next 20 minutes or so.

You can really see the low level convergence below.

Edit: An observation, Winds still from a N direction here, with the clouds rushing south. Will be interesting to see it change as the line goes through.

Quite a few big storms out over Germany at the moment, I'm thinking later this evening they may possibly reach the Netherlands coastline and become engaged with the cold front?

Very heavy rain and one rumble of thunder...takes this year to 5 days with thunder here.

EDIT: Second loud boom.
