Just a 0.2°C temp drop here. It was already cold under the thick cloud, so it didn't  have much of an impact.

Its just like a dull December's day at the moment no street lights on, birds still flying around though not as active as an hour ago

Guys,

Perfect conditions for viewing here...

I was watching with the naked eye thru very thin high cloud.

I have left a resume in the Midlands thread of the events.

It was just fantastic and I recorded an exactly 1.0C total temperature drop (from 7.5C to 6.5C) in abot 25 mins. The temperature has just started to go back up to 6.6C at 9:52.

It went really quite dark here, but it's cloudy so didn't see anything directly.

Went duller here in Egham like a dull december morning (all car lights on etc) but nothing else with thick north sea cloud.

Solar radiation graph from weather station at home shows a nice drop, though with mostly cloudy conditions:

(spikes significantly over theoretical max are due to reflections of other clouds while the sun's out)

Haven't seen a thing here in Reading, but it did get quite dark around 9.30.  It's brightening noticeably now - we'll probably start seeing the sun just after it's all over :( Temperature dropped around 0.5 degree. The satellite imagery shows the passage of the moon's shadow beautifully.

Started fine this morning then clouded over about 15 mins before the maximum eclipse, a slight break in the clouds allowed me to get this picture at around 9.34, almost maximum.

It went darker, but no where near as spectacular as a total eclipse. As I said in an earlier post USA 2017 looks goodpost-12280-0-05624400-1426847049_thumb.j

Finally saw one properly! A bit of cloud at home so headed towardsthe blue sky and found it about 8 miles south. Finally got to use the eclipse glasses from 1999. It was fantastic to see the Sun wane to a thin crescent, and the light dropped so it was like being in a car with tinted windows. Birds were going mad, especially the geese in a nearby farm. But best of all was the "crescent shadows":

Well we were very lucky here, great views right through maximum before clouding over. Really want to see the eclipse in USA in 2017, definitely need to see totality at least once in my life.

Hi all,

Enjoying everyone's pictures.

Varied cloud here in E. Yorks.

At maximum the cloud was over but allowed a little look.

Later it cleared and I took a photo of my binocular/white card view.

It didn't get as dark as I expected but I noticed the chill.

All good fun.

B.  :)

Things turned out slightly better than I was expecting, the veil of cloud made for some good SLR photography conditions from the start to just before the maximum eclipse, with skies clearing to allow projection via the telescope into the later stages of the moon passing. Managed to see the shadow racing from west to east as a darkened blue tinge to the north, also noticed the light dimming aswell as some crescent shadows on the ground.

Given it was 8/8 overcast this morning the forecast sun was a little late, but still managable in terms of viewing conditions.

Before anyone thinks about posting a certain image that you may have seen doing the rounds, have a peek at this: http://a4size-ska.deviantart.com/art/Eclipse-144235675

ITV fell for it, but have decided to take down the webpage.

Became very gloomy here here with a fair bit of cloud cover.Cattle all started to ly down in the folds and geese in neighboring fields took off and headed for the coast. Much better than the last eclipse I remember in the summer.  Tried to get photo but failed.post-2744-0-64586100-1426851287_thumb.jp Lovely and sunny now!!!!
