Right, I want a petition started to STOP THE BBC SAYING ' WINTRY SHOWERS' !!!!!!!!!!!! Argh!!!!!!!   Its the most annoying thing ever. Is it impossible for them to say snow????? Its clear tonight and tomorrow morning is very cold air and therefor SNOW showers. Significant accumulations possible.

Really winds me up lol!! :nonono::angry::nea:

Thinking that we will be at the very southern margin of the snowfall area so not expecting a massive amount here.

Still a chance though!

Getting quite excited now as apart from the odd flake we've had no settling snow here on the coast this year (Or last year!). Looking good to catch something tonight / tomorrow AM. My focus switches to the Northerley from Sunday though. We usually do well from a Northerly even right on the coast. For the posters mentioning marginality on the coast, i don't (from experience) think it will effect snow chances too much.

We need -6/-7C 850's from a Northerly (Much lower for an easterly!). The temps forecast from Sunday and into next week are at -7C and lower at times on GFS at the moment.

Lots to look forward to in the next week!

Temp has dropped 3C in last two hours, from 7.5 to 4.5, so heading in the right direction !

I imagine the warning could be extended southwards (say to Sheffield) for western areas of our region overnight, must depends on the intensity of the showers are how far south and west they make it

Looking at the Radar guessing at some point after 3pm it should start for us, until then just snow showers.

^edit: haha just decided to check BBC to see what it says for us - Heavy snow from now all the way through till 3pm tomorrow, when it turns light. That website is useless in snow.

Taken from the Scottish thread but the latest NMM total rain accumulation figures are scary for the western half of Yorkshire -

nmm_uk1-25-36-0.png?28-12

That is a 100+mm bit near Sheffield. With 60+mm widely over the high parts.

The met needs to move that Amber Warning further South to cover Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield and Sheffield as looking at the radar the proper snow will be hitting there around 3/4pm which will make peoples drive home very difficult.

The speed of the cold and snow appears faster than forecast.  Already had 3 minor flurries in the centre of Leeds and the radar looks like more intense bursts are on the way.

Bridgewater Place roads closed again because of the wind.  Feels raw outside.

Yes its coming in fast, already had 2 snow showers right down into Hillsborough which is one of the lowest points of Sheffield. Its all to play for tonight :D

Obviously the flip side of that is the wind is so strong the showers only last a minute and then they are gone. It sounds like more widespread and heavy stuff comes overnight though so im not worried :p
