Normally I would like at edodfc. However, league cup semi final and any excuse for them to call it off worries me a bit.

Just quick look on weather sites for Scotland- yr.no, accuweather and BBC all 3 say heavy rain until midday tomorrow before snow arriving although only BBC looks interesting in this aspect and now I am starting to panic haha...!

Just took a look at the latest charts for this weekend and beyond before realising, we're going into polar low territory! Possibly some very heavy snow to come at short notice under such a cold, unstable airmass :)

longer term tonight's run is showing up the potential for an Easterly. That would be something if we start off with a very cold PM Westerly turning into a potent Northerly then an Easterly. Something for everybody there though obviously it may never happen though the first two looks certs now.

These are the steepest of ramps you'll ever see from me - nothing beats a 5/7 day north westerly / northerly with the potential to develop into something even more sustained!

Just checking in after reading various forecasts for back home. Looks good for many. Good luck even though I'll miss anything before the weekend. Can't believe I'm away again when snow is a possibility! Here in Germany I have typical Scottish drizzly, fairly mild pish!

Torrential rain @0400 seems to have now passed, winds here in Stirling still from west, so the waiting game begins now.

BBC forecasting heavy snow (IMBY) for pretty much most of the day, which is the first time in a long while I've seen that for Stirling..

Be careful out there though, it's blowing a gale and the roads are soaking wet....still think the MO will upgrade to amber for us for the evening rush hour, so definitely be careful coming home ...

A bit of rain this morning but I know that's to come through. I don't know how cold it is out there but the house is pretty nippy this morning, probably mainly the wind cooling things down and our leaky windows!

7.3c at 5am and now 3.6c/2.7c and dropping like a stone. With windchill factored in currently feels like 0.5c. Showers should be turning to sleet soon.

Yep - we were @ 8c at 0400, and it's now plummeted to 3.5c

Pressure also dropping, though the winds interestingly, are still from the west..

Met Office forecast for Central, Tayside & Fife is looking interesting to say the least:

Today:

Bright with sunny intervals and snow showers, these heaviest and most frequent in the south and west, giving slight to moderate falls, even on low ground. Strong westerly winds, causing drifting on high ground. Maximum Temperature 5C.

Tonight:

Clear intervals and snow showers, most frequent in the west, but feeding through the Forth Clyde valley in the strong westerly winds. Widespread frost with icy patches. Minimum Temperature -4C.

Especially like the bit about snow showers "feeding through the Forth Clyde valley"  :D BBC Weather also hinting at an area of more persistent snow in the Central Lowlands this evening, which matches up quite well with the latest Euro4 run. No hints of marginality either; dewpoints firmly below zero for most of us after around 3pm. Excited for this one today!  :cold:

Heavy sleet here, nearly there :)

What a forecast!!

Tonight:
Clear intervals and snow showers, perhaps merging into longer spells of snow, with further moderate accumulations and drifting in the strong westerly winds. Widespread frost with icy patches. Minimum Temperature -3C.

That has to go amber or red for this evening, Could be chaos on the M-8
