I liked the fact he has written to the COBRA committee. I too nearly choked when I read it. It was sent to me via FB

Saying that this set up is quite rare at least 10 day spell of cold/ very cold weather stuck in North west Northerly then a N easterly, not settled either no HP dominating, a  strange exciting charts plenty of snow opportunities ahead.Relish these charts we may never see charts this good again!

Nothing on the beeb to suggest this at all though much as I want to

I'll be waiting until the met office issue warnings for us before believing any of it. If they thought we were going to see anything substantial surely they would have issued warnings today along with the Northwest etc?

Confidence is still medium on cold spell, thats why Meto hasn't issued warnings yet. As always dividing line is the key issue between deciding to issue a warning for rain/snow.

Details still sketchy!

Do you think the met office will issue warnings tomorrow for us?

Amazing chart for Friday even if there is small chance of no lying snow Across Wales Wednesday Thursday on the SWales coast.,This is great weather viewing,I expect warning to be issued Tues morning for Wednesday night snow and a stronger amber warning issued for Friday /Saturday snow..

Very tasty looking chart. Streamer akin to Dec 2010 would suffice.

Well I'll be very disappointed if I don't get the 25cms I've been promised...

I'd take that and happily have no snow for another year. That was the most snow I've seen in my life around a foot level snow and deeper in places.

Haha, who is that guy? Never heard of him. 25cm for Wales, sure on the mountains I doubt anywhere on low ground will unless a streamer sets up for hours.

I'd say if the models keep on track most can expect some measurable snow cover by next Monday, but 25cm? Perhaps the top of pen y fan

Snowdon weather reports

Wednesday 28th January

Overnight rain will soon be displaced through the morning by much colder, brighter conditions across the park. However, hail and snow showers will be driven in from the Irish Sea by the gale force northwesterly winds leading to blizzard conditions with whiteout and the risk of lightning. Freezing level above the summits overnight, but lowering to 400m by afternoon and feeling as cold as -14C across the summits.

Cold spell has been watered down overnight; not at long-lasting, not overly cold and with most snow restricted to the North.

I noted my inkling that this would happen the night before last and was poo-pooed.

Story of this winter I'm afraid.

Yesterday the Netweather forecast for Cardiff was showing an 86% chance of snow between 6 & 9am Thursday. It's now 28%. Hope this gathers some speed and we all do get a good covering.
