Completely unexpected snowfall in south Hailsham, 14 m a.s.l. Big wet flakes, but not settling as the ground's too soggy after 36 hours of rain.

We had a heavy flurry for about 5 mins that nearly covered grass but now just a sleety mess. The Gate shows that with a bit more elevation makes all the difference. I am about 270ft asl while Halstead is approx. 600ft asl and just 4 miles from me. Would imagine Biggin Hill and Knockholt got a nice picturesque covering as well

Everything white here, with cars starting to struggle to get up and down the hill outside my house! No more than a covering, we are not measuring this in centimetres - but easily the first complete covering of the winter.

Even in south London it was snowing at 7am, though the ground was to wet for it to settle, nice to see it laying in the higher parts of our region.

Sleety rain shower here on the way to the train station. For the typical bus replacement service :p

Nothing here. Stupid Bluebell Hill always acts as a barrier.

loving these snow reports and photos, here it doesn't even seem chilly, quite a nice sunny blue sky day although i haven't been outside and most likely won't as I have a chest infection and was in hospital yesterday and told to rest given my history.I feel ok,just a bit tired and achy.

This was not forecast as we saw the weather on tv this morning and it was showing snow down the west central area of the country but clear over our region and the south coast.

Southernman is trying to work out if it is spreading in this direction as he is working tonight and it may have implications out on the river he is calling his family in Selsey as well to see what it like there as that is West Sussex and some of you have said it is snowing there.

It does feel like Winter has switched back on.... I'm freezing perhaps I'm coming down with something. GFS 12z is nice out in FI mostly dry but very cold. +ve Heights link to Scandinavia courtesy of AH.
