After a frosty start, it has turned very early spring-like again today, with sunshine, low-winds and a temperature of just under 7C. Not bad for 10:50 on a February morning.

Feb is 0ften overrated as a winter month, can feel like Spring when sun is out, Dec and Jan cannot, Feb is just as zonal normally as Dec and Jan, if not worse

I have to disagree there, February is on average the calmest of our winter months. Usually by this time, the Atlantic tends to be running out of energy, so we are more likely to see high-pressure or northerly winds.

I will agree that it can definately be a spring month if it is mild and sunny though.

Usually late March/April when Atlantic dies down, thought that was when we get most high pressure and best chance of N'lys and E'lys

Well yes, March and April tend to be some the calmest month of the year as a whole, but in terms of the winter, February is much more likely to see N'lys and E'lys than December and January are.

Seems to be a bit of mid-high level cloud rolling in now. Still it's better than murky, miserable low cloud, nonetheless.

Models now seem to be agreeing on a rather disturbed spell

Of weather on the way, wind, rain, and yes I would not discount

Snow either in the colder PM air mass, especially on ground

150-200m (abeit brief and transient) anyway at last something

To talk about

I'm going to try and go without alcohol until Easter.

Not be easy but I managed a dry Lent in both 2012 and 2013 and last years lack of staying power has made me more determined than ever to see it through this time.
