If the snow were heavy enough I'm pretty sure it would stick in minutes whatever how damp the ground is.

I have snow now, but very wet. Might go glossop way with the dogs.

Wet snow melting on impact - looks dramatic falling from the skies.  If it was a rain/sleet turning to snow on back-edge event it would be more exciting, but this is as good as it's gets before it turns completely to rain.

You need to hurry as it won't be long before it turns to rain.  

 

Turning back to sleet now here as the wind strengthens.
