Been snowing heavily last half hour, but its very wet and the ground is too wet for any settling, still pleasing to see.

 

Reason SW/W Cumbria not joining in is because the flow is from the south off the Irish Sea whereas rest of the region it is an onshore flow, less moderation.

 

Had the trough tilted on a more NW-SE axis then it would have possibly been a good snow event for many, less marginal with more of a stalling feature. Always a fine line, but these are the best set ups for heavy snow in this region.

 

Edit - as I was typing the above, it is now sticking alarmingly on surfaces and grass, the power of evaporative cooling, winds are picking up also..

Snow is getting a bit heavier but still wet and not sticking.

The most noticeable thing is the increase in wind and the snow now starting to blow about.

Snowing now was drizzly snizzle for ten minutes but flakes now.... Temp 1c dew -1c...

Light but better than nothing.... Going to pop out to tesco.... Have fun everyone getting snow...

Sorry about the sideways view. Doesn't look as heavy on the pics but you can see the smattering of white starting to appear on the grass.

When I walked it was snow, sleet, hail, rain and ice needles coming down!!

Very heavy blowing snow here now and starting to stick.
