I have memories of that road SS with a Leon mashing along it at a rate of knots accompanied by some choice French commentary :)

A few photos of the plough as  it  was not normal ploughing weather.  post-2744-0-42442300-1446488929_thumb.jppost-2744-0-56722400-1446488911_thumb.jppost-2744-0-54684600-1446488895_thumb.jp  Was in shirt sleeves all day as it was so warm.

Some great photos all round today - thanks for posting.

After the fog cleared it was pleasant here in NE Fife too, cooler than yesterday though at 11c.

I'll try and get out and around a bit more so it's not the same old scenery I post up all the time, but it's great seeing photos from everyone else too, it makes for an interesting thread while there's not a lot of weather going on.

The Loch Morlich AWS which is  Peet Bros ultimeter station recorded a peak screen temperature of 21.2ºc early this afternoon with a relatively low humidity for the Highlands of 43% - Fohn effect of the Cairngorms despite relatively light winds.

Was also very pleasant again in the West until the inversion fog on Rannoch Moor decided to rise up the mountain after lunch.

Great pics

A chilly start but beautiful skies to go with it. Some incredible temperatures for November, nature is certainly confused. Found baby newts in the garden yesterday!? don't fancy the poor things chances in the coming weeks, provided we actually get some winter weather and I'm not lathered in sun cream opening the Christmas presents on a hammock in the garden

At least the midges are gone, stayed around until last week (unseasonal again) they were utterly insane this year. Here, Elphin, Skye, Lochaber, I gave a lot of blood to them this year, was thinking of getting a donation card. Harsh language, baseball bats, 1direction songs, you can try what you wish, the mighty wee midge will still attack

Working in inverness today, sunshine and 17 C apparently, hottest year globally in history? Indeed

Cool bright start to the day again this morning. Blue skies and an overnight low of -0.3C so a slight frost. Got quite misty yesterday evening and still patches lingering around when I drove to work around 9am.

Fog took a while to come last night but was a lot thicker. Clearing now. Might be foggy for a time tonight but shouldn't last with the rain incoming

Second foggy day at the foot of the Ochils, looked like it was going to lift up at around 9 but ten minutes after that it came back to stay for another undetermined time. Temperatures are henceforth suppressed. 22 degrees in November? Not IMBY nor do I want them! I'll stick to my more seasonal current 7 :)

That was a very speculative 17c on the radio this morning for Inverness. Sitting at 11c currently, with clear blue skies all around. Surely chances of Aurora again tonight?

Fog stuck around all day here in NE Fife, hence the max of just 8.3c at Leuchars. Certainly felt more like November!

Full arc aurora tonight about 15 t0 20 degrees above the horizon  but not very bright.currently 6c after 16 c mid afternoon with another  very warm sunny day. Four more gates painted.   New calves lying stretched out in the sun fabulous start for them.

You beat me to it NL! Was going to give you a heads up if not, just back from a jaunt and I spotted that from the A9 at Daviot. Quite faint but clearer once you get away from Inverness' light

3C here with clear skies but sporadic, eerie patches of dense fog dotted along the local roads and fields, would have been fitting weather for last Saturday night

We had a cracking morning and early afternoon, but the fog came back with a vengeance later this afternoon at around sunset.

Tomorrow looks like it will be fairly murky across the country, with patchy rain, drizzle and mist & fog for many:

That's exactly what we have.

After an overnight low of 0.3C it was back up to around 6C by 8am. Currently low grey cloud, misty, light rain and no wind.

Edit: To brighten the place up on a gloomy morning here's a few recent photos. The first two were taken at Loan an Eilein near Aviemore a couple of weeks ago. The last one was taken at the weekend in one of my local woods.

The rain and fog's cleared (was quite heavy this morning) now it's cloudy a little misty but nothing major. At long last though the weather's getting a bit more lively

Well, this is new - or is it?

Seem to recall a similarly named network of people that existed in the pre-internet 1980s who would provide reports by telephone during episodes of severe weather in the more remote areas (i.e. much of Scotland).

Good to see the idea being reinvented for the digital age by the Beeb, albeit others got there first.

Still, it could save them a fortune on paying for a new weather info provider once they bin the Met Office... ;-)>

Or they could just join NW? :) Our regional threads (not just this one) already provide a decent service in that respect.

It's a murky old autumnal day here today, thick Scotch mist which looks not bad from inside but soaks you instantly when you take MrsC's dogs for a walk. Tomorrow doesn't look any better with some heavy rain for many. Defo looking a lot more unsettled from now on, finally something half decent weatherwise to get ripped into :)

Indeedy - Beeb playing catch up once again!  :D

Dreich & 7.5ºC here just now. Tomorrow looking damp, too. Hope it clears up for Bonfire Night later on.
