It is actually snowing lightly here now. The only saving grace I can think of is the faint hope the radar might fill, we have come good from that happening in the past.

Surely it's the uppers we need to be interested in for snow guys? I'll be happy enough if I see a repeat of Thursday night to be honest, nothing like a spot of lamp post watching:)

Temp 2.4   Dp 0.7    As per usual......not a chance...will shortly be time for a nice Warwick Saffron Curry and a glass or 5 of Fleurie to console myself.... in fact that sounds better than any dodgy snow event.....

Thursday night was nice but quick coverings that are gone by lunchtime are so 2015.

It's a new year...time for winter to regenerate into it's next guise!

Is it me or is it all fizzles out and getting patchy? Is that stuff up north supposed to come directly south or will it just miss us?

How many times have we seen the dreaded "Eastern shift" over the last couple of winters? I don't get excited anymore; it's not worth it.

2011/2012 no substantial snow, very wet though!

2012/2013 late snow, massive snow drifts in places.

2013/2014 no substantial snow, 1 light snow shower seen in Walsall whilst driving through

2014/2015 no substantial snow, very stormy

2015/2016 - A few showers with a couple dustings, November and January so far.

I hope i remembered all that right, the winters seem to merge into one big damp windy mess lol

Light rain on trip back from Solihull to Wythall, though quite sleety during the heavier bits. Temps just too high at 2.5c here, dew points okay just uppers wrong side of marginal. I fear a lost cause for West Mids now, looks like GFS called it right.

Looks like a south Yorks and East Mids event to me now, remarkable and irritating late shift east.

Agreed, but I felt January and March 2013 were excellent for us here.

2011/12 should have been a disaster but remember how lucky we got in the first weekend of February... we were literally miles away from losing what ended up as a decent snow event.

Since 2013 though?...yes...one big damp mess!

Sold off rain. And the worst thing is that this is brining on warmer air now so you can prettY much forget battle ground scenarios next week. Mild wins easy.

i would seriously expect rain even in Leicester etc tonight now.

Awesome. Never knew about that site. Cheers :)

Temp is dropping and at 1.8c, dewpoint -0.2C, hopefully we can get something. Even a cm, something white is all I want

Looking at the radar, once this bit is through, that could be it for here!

Time to review the event now it's over:

As far as snow events go, it's definitely on a par with almost anything that happened in December 2010....

...except the snow bit....

....and the event bit....

My favourite bit was when I shut the curtains, forgot about it and turned the telly on.

What was your favourite bit of this snow event?

doubt that temps dropping like a stone atm, dew points -3. clear skys. Only problem is the precip is being obliterated as it hits this colder air

Dr Who? I wish it would regenerate into the equivalent of David Tennant then!

I'm confused. The MetO don't even have us down for any  precip on E-Mids until 7pm onwards. The light PPN was never predicted to fall around here, so the fact that this light stuff is dying out isn't too surprising - it was never predicted otherwise by the MetO.

Sadly this winter is turning more into a John Hurt...shoe-horned in at the last minute to make the other winters around it make sense.
