Looks like about 1 cm fell during the night, then melted a bit, then froze.

Still, first falling and lying snaw of 15/16 recorded.

Currently -0.2 °C.

Feel free to edit your post and delete the image if you want to Pete, but had edited your post at the beginning of this thread and added this Scotland Weather Chat logo to it. Hope that was okay.

Also some extremely cool pictures in here of some snowy Scottish scenes.

We have a covering here which has frozen solid, the road outside looks lethal. Temp currently hovering around 0c, beautiful sunny morning. It's always nice to wake up to the screams of "SNOOOOOWWWWWWWWW"  :cold:

Cairn Gorm Summit is the coldest place in the UK at the moment -8.9°c wind gusting around 50mph will be making it feel even colder

Beautiful Ochils in a beautiful day. Went up Bank Hill via the Glen and the Castle, the snowline was at some 140m but up until 200m you could see how after the snow it had rained a bit. Plus it was well frozen. However, on entering the Burn of Sorrow, snow became powdery and more firm. Lovely walk.

See a few photos attached.

3.Ochils from mine.

Nice pics of the Wee County Peborant. I used to live there and loved to see the Ochils turning white! Nae snaw here at all, but the OH kindly informed me at 12.30 when he came in from the local music session that ' it's all white out there!' So we had some snow in the wee small hours. Absolutely Baltic though, lowest temp last night was 0.2c. BBRRRRRRR! :cold:

Morning all,

Dry, sunny and breezy in Crail. Temp 1.2c after an overnight low of 0.9c. Coldest night of the Autumn but didn't quite manage an air frost.

Much like Catch, lamp posts are scarce in these parts, so couldn't post a pic last night during the action. Will have to ask for one for Christmas

-6C when I woke, warmed up to -3C just now, with moderate snow showers coming from the north in the last hour. Went to get eggs from a local crofter's egg box, frozen shut.. scrambled eggs on hold for now

Beautiful morning here, nice and still and fresh clear Arctic air.

After TMax will be interesting to see what this trough can get up to as it clears SE.

Looks a little more organised than the precip forecast would suggest. One to keep an eye on the radar for..

Edit - add strat chart to compare to the satellite image. Other than the band coming through, it shows the huge RW trough very well. post-7292-0-45735200-1448107131_thumb.jppost-7292-0-74327800-1448107480_thumb.gi

Proper winter tyre morn the morn.

Minor roads covered in crusty melted snaw ice and slush. Mazda mx5 ahead of me was zooming along at 60 until it fishtailed wildly on an icy bend, after which it decided it was best to slow to 30-40.

1.0 °C and a light but cutting wind.

Mongooses have been busy here with no in sight, just a bit of frozen slush left on the HCmobile from her escapade last night.  Feels raw.  More of a chance of some wintry stuff tonight perhaps.

Is that fax chart showing another band of precipitation moving down/in from the west/northwest?

Latest NMM update increases the chance of no tonight, perhaps even some mongoose-no.  Not sure I'm too keen on just rawness without some prettiness.

Chilly. Was Baltic this morning.

1c when I got up (after being -0.7c overnight) at 9 and then hung about 2.5c until about 1pm. The sun then went behind the hill and it clouded over, although, it reached 4.1c

Currently 3.9c, so falling.

A nice precursor to winter proper. Snow on the high hills but I did think it may have been a lower snowline but we were too far west for the main band I think.

Beats the rain and wind anyway!

There's still a little bit of snow on the ground at Moffat plus some incoming judging by the radar but it's been an ice day here, quite uncommon for mid-November. I'm hoping it'll be a wee bit warmer tomorrow as I'm expecting to be up on Lowther Hill, trying to get our webcams running again.

Nice powdery snow falling just now. That counts as two snow days (last night's snow started at about 11.45 pm)  :)

Edit ... it wasn't as interesting as the radar suggested, just dandruff really.

A bright and cold day here, with the snow in the shade and the local hills surviving the day. Got down to -1.8C at around 4pm but has subsequently claimed back up to -0.7C.

Next band of snow incoming from the NW according to the radar? Anyone from Inverness area getting another fall?
