Theres a differncial in the size of the flakes, I think if the PPN rates pep of again it will be alright, no melt yet because temp is so near to freezing

pretty much bang on zero here so shouldnt melt unless the temp goes up a bit

Precipitation is looking a bit more active again in the north sea, especially east and north of the Isle of Man. Let's hope they develop a bit more as they move southeastwards.

it was his thoughts that despite the initial forecast, that there was a chance for some snow later.  I remain unconvinced. These temperatures and dp's are just too high, the upper air isn't helping matters either.  -5C, I have yet to see any snow fall at that upper air temp.  here we normally require -8c/-9C probably because of the affect the irish sea. suspect if things do not improve in the next few hourts, then its going to be rain showers throughout.

Yeah I thought with the SE flow tonight  that offshore element would make all the difference, but alas it seems not.

Well the good news....the dregs that are falling are pure snow. Unfortunately there's no precipitation and it's just a few flakes coming down. Shocking how far east that band of precipitation is.

Well the milder uppers will pretty much condemn the chance of snow this far west.. more likely to get ice pellets or freezing rain there.

T=0.8C, dew point is now below zero. And it's raining still

Temp 2.6C
dp 2.3C
drastically different from yours to say the least.

That's not a good sign with you just down the road.. Hopefully I'm a higher than you and it will remain as snow here.

Well we managed about half an hour of snow before it fizzled back to sleet and then fine rain. On the will it rain today radar it looks like the band is further east and the prediction is that it will continue on that way so I fear we have just missed out by 60 miles or so. Maybe there is a chance that it will back east later but I'm not holding my breath. This is the snow dessert after all :wallbash:

It is a good thing the rain is only light and the snow cover here still intact.

It's funny how Blackpool Airport TAF saying 0C dew point and has been all afternoon.

Makes sense, Blackpool is in the Met-office warning zone (if we can take anything from that now), and is reporting rainsnow.

Temp - 0.9 up  from -1.1 for the last few hours

Dew  -0.9 havent checked that for a while but it was alot lower this morn

Just been out very light ppn very small very wet flakes, if and its a big if it intensified it  would be snow here, if the temp doesnt keep creeping up.

there is an icy snowy covering on some surfaces

Misunderstood my post, I mean it's funny in regards that it's only a few miles further north and they have a lower dew point but still near the coast and bythe looks of it the front is further east than predicted or at least the preciptation is.
