Very warm and still here but just hearing the first rumbles of thunder to my west.

Your prediction of the activity transferring to the east of Birmingham later in the evening is looking good.

I hope you're right, I want to enjoy some storms but I want to be asleep by half eight for a very early start tomorrow!

Going to be one of those annoying events probably end up surrounded by storms but nothing here.

It's one of those situations where storms are dying off with fresh ones rising up at the same time. You might not get anything from here but you may get your own literal home grown storm. It's where the trough is that matters. As soon as the trough clears east of you...you're out of the woods!

AcCas tower growing in size overhead, looks promising but the next 30min will tell if it develops into anything more.

That's why I'm tempted to head to the Peaks nearby to see if there's any distant lightning shows like last year. Bodes well if they keep their intensity into the evening. We were never in the prime location today so I'm not disappointed. No shield nonsense to blame today ;)

Guys in the path watch the storm leaving Milton Keynes. It has a wall cloud on it with rotation, lightning is constant and the thunder is like nothing I've heard before. Sounds incredibly powerful and so deep and booming.

yep saw it, took some pics but they do it justice. lots of direct hits over head, amazing rain, constant lightning. could see some movement hence the fact i didn't feel very happy standing out in it.

It is! The breeze makes the air feel pretty fresh, probably the reason there is no structure this afternoon.

Constant lightning and thunder in Milton Keynes now with squally winds. Very little rain and sat under what looks like a whales mouth sky.

Out of curiosity, whereabouts is the trough at the moment?
