imby post alert........................line of heavy showers is forming along the M5 corridor north of Bristol stretching up past Brum moving slowly S/SE developing along outflow boundaries from earlier cells and aided by nocturnal cooling, so I might yet get lucky............I'm going to pop outside in a mo as it should be dark enough to see some reflected flashes from the storms west of London (60 miles or so to my east)

Cells forming over the Peak District, nothing thundery yet but at least any rain is welcome given the dry conditions underfoot here.

Slinging it down here, yes good for the garden.Shame those showers to the west seem to be slowly fading away as they inch ever so slowly closer!.

Can anyone confirm that these cells are moving in a westward direction across the west midlands? On radar it look like there is a westward shift. The wind has suddenly picked up here in Worcester and the temperature is currently 19.1c

don't think so - circular pattern but the whole lot moving south east is the most likely outcome

would love to be proved wrong though lol

Martin..

I posted a similar post in the Midlands thread about an hour ago. From the radar it looks as though the storm around Buckinghamshire  is developing a circulation.

Don't ask me what it means though! It could well drift off eastwards towards Lincolnshire, They all seem to do that.

Moving SE across central and southern England as steering wind is NWly now upper trough is across E and NE UK.

Occasional blue white sheet lightning to my west, but storms over west London, NW Surrey and Berks taking an eternity to move anywhere.

Yes I think they are, I've forgotten what these are called but I think a small low has formed. There is a name for what I'm thinking of but I can't remember it. But you can clearly see on radar with the rain, what I mean. I don't mean a short wave.

Upper level low, very slow moving features, I think this is one.
