Well the the cloud ahead of that big storm has reached here that could be it for sunshine today. Still very warm outside.

The front end of the cell as it headed north over us, and the sky just before it started pouring. Heavy stuff just got here.

Blue skies and birdsong for me now in Sanderstead. That's after the epic storm between 2 and 3, I've been teaching my son to calculate the storm proximity by counting elephants :-)

That was scary for a moment. Our street started to flood, the water was just about to go over the door step when the rain slowed. Thank god!

I have never seen anything like it before. On a brighter note, the storm was amazing and still rumbling away.

I think we took a direct hit.

A couple of pics taken just after the water started to go down.

Been a long time since I've seen rain like this. Low areas of the garden started flooding! Direct hit.

We're up on the hill, Coulsden and Purley had flash floods (they're in the Bourne valley and over an underground river).

There's new cells firing out west of the region the highest cap was not even forcast till 6pm onwards for our area but think the disturbance moved through earlier than predicted..

That said, I think a few more storms could crop up this evening as we will have hot humid air and some energy in the atmosphere

Is there a chance that the monster in N. France will hop over the channel? I'd love to see a nighttime storm.

that completely depends on the temperature of the channel at the time and the wind direction and strength, if the conditions are right it could hit Norfolk or Essex and maybe further North, don't expect it to be as electrical as seen in the radar, it will most likely (if it comes) be less intense and electrical!

I think I picked the wrong time to walk the dog. Few spots of rain when I left by the time we got back it was hammering down. Just started to storm here now.
