Morning,

just feeling a tad fresher before today's heat.

Its showing fresh NW winds on sat and 20c that will feel positively freezing after the lat 3 days.:cold:

Another point to note it was much cooler than expected last night down to 15c.

Yes, it's looking like a very active line of storms could develop later this afternoon. There is general agreement across the other high res models, but with slight variances on exact position and timing. Here's Arpege 19.00, NMM 19.00 and GFS 17.00

Arpege Precip Thur15Sep 19.00.pngNMM Precip Thur15Sep 19.00.pngGFS Precip Thur15Sep 17.00.GIF

The CAPE & LI and MUCAPE charts showing reasonable instability in the atmosphere, supporting the likelihood of storms. Arpege MUCAPE and NMM CAPE & LI at 19.00:

Arpege MUCAPE Thur15Sep 19.00.pngNMM CAPE Thur15Sep 19.00.png

By the way, GFS was the only model suggesting the possibility of storms coming up from France many days back, with no backing from the other models.

Went down to 17.7 last night, very fresh compared to the last 2. It's now 20.5. Lot's of alto cumulus about.

Another beautiful morning . Little girls first day at school so excited and nervous for her. Saw lots of convective type clouds earlier this morning but they seem to have melted away now. (For now )

The European satellite image and Meteo France radar this morning shows very nicely the cloud and precipitation over France that's moving up towards the South Coast and which will develop later today to give heavy rain and storms for areas of the UK (discussed above).

Met Office Yellow Warning for rain for the west of our Region today, but looking very soggy for all of us tomorrow:

22C, and not a cloud in the sky...Hopefully (I'm not convinced!) the last of 2016 sweat-fest days?

Looks like my location could be 20-30 miles from any action yet again today.

Not even 20c on the coast yet.

Was nice to see some storm food earlier though.

I live in hope...

Still foggy and murky here - satellite showing it's going to be a fair while behind we get any sun here. Stuck at 17c. Not sure we will have enough heating time to get another 30c again today, but we will see!

The alto cumulus of this morning has vanished, now have clear sky's temp is up at 23.7. The air is a little hazy now, however in my experience that is not a bad thing. I wonder if anything will roll in from the channel to night.

Now up at 24.6 going to be a hot one here.

Not a cloud in the (somewhat hazy) sky, 26C - which is 3C lower than at the same time, yesterday...

Well the fog has finally burnt away - though we are lagging some 4-5c behind a lot of areas in the region after a very slow start. 23c and ever clearing blue skies. Will anywhere get to 30c today?

28c already here at 1pm should reach 30c I would expect unless it clouds over? looking at those charts posted seems most of Kent will miss the storms AGAIN! typical! the hottest region which needs the rain the most

Could do with some rain later in the day it may get lively for some. Another unseasonably, very warm, bordering on hot day we're getting spoilt. (Taken from yesterday).

Really strange that other parts of the region are reporting such high temps of nearly 27C / 28C

Only up to 24C here in South Hertfordshire - Same time yesterday 29.5C

Definitely feels cooler today as well

About 26 here and slightly hazy, saw a very isolated shower pass over very rapidly at about 12:30, low and lenticular in form, never seen anything like it. Tracked S-N along the coast here and it went from still with a breeze to heavy gusts and back to still again within about 3 minutes. Bizarre. Loving the heat, not so much the humidity.. still, if it means a decent storm I'm sure we're all game!

No kidding, I was up in Cumbria when we had the last proper storm down here, late June.. a couple of days after I got back they had a massive storm there.. went back first 2 weeks of Sept and the day I got back they had biblical thunderstorms from Birmingham all the way to the border. All the while it's been scorchio!

Cloudless and 28.1C here. Stunning.

From the lunchtime graphics on 'Look East' it's looking like almost anywhere in our Region is in with a shout of seeing a storm over the next 24 hours. It kicks off with some isolated storms in the W of the patch later this afternoon, then the S/SE and south of EA probably seeing some imports from France moving in overnight. These storms then 'engage' with the cold front moving east to produce more widespread rain and further storms into tomorrow.

Had  some weird weather here couple of hours ago. Sky went all dark to the south, and then moved in land really quite fast. It got windy as this very think dusty sea mist blew through, took about 10 mins. Weather behind is much fresher, with a cool breeze. Must have been the cold front. Temp hasn't yet recovered even though it's still nice and sunny, currently 21.9
