Well what a shame that some folk didn't enjoy a particularly good day. I'm almost embarrassed to report that the high cloud was so few and far between here that it didn't spoil the day at all and the temp maxed at 25.5C. Here's hoping there aren't any "rogue showers" around tomorrow and everyone joins in with this fantastic late burst of summer!

P.S. Anyone else suspect the term "rogue shower" might be the closest the Met Off get to admitting "we didn't see those coming"!

Absolutely , at one stage there was a whole band of rain that developed .looking at the radar there still are some (rogue showers) about.

Well pleased with another cracking early autumn day here on the sunny south coast. Max T 24.4c with over 8 hours of sunshine and a light breeze. So glad I moved down here. :)

Talking about rogue showers, there seems to be one on the Kent peninsular now. Not sure if it will make it here or not.

think it's the warm front, temp just shot up 2 degrees, 22 here now. Blimey it's nearly midnight in september and 22 degrees, weird.

So a 31C certainly possible in the region today.

For me, you can really tell its September and not July. The humidity isn't half as bad and it actually feels fresh out there this morning.

Will be interesting to see how the 18-20C forecast for tonight feels, I bet it will feel nothing like it would if we were in Mid July.

Does anyone know why this is? Daylight hours/lower sun?

Temp up to 24.3 already here, that's with quite a bit of high cloud sun only just staring to make an appearance.

Lots of high cloud floating around here which could hold the truly exceptional temperatures back (unless it clears). That said it's 26c already....hoping it shoves off to the north and the sun can do its work!

Hi All,

Watching the mercury rising quite rapidly this morning under quite a lot of high cloud.  It has reached 29.1 in the shelter of my garden, here in Southend, it will be interesting to see how high it finally goes.  If it was a clear day all sorts of records could have tumbled, but the sun is still struggling to make it through the cloud...

Lots of high cloud about here in South Herts especially looking over to my East.

Thicker cloud making its way NE over the Isle of white now - Looks like it has Western parts of the regions name on it for this afternoon.

31C/32C only being reached in places it stays sunny in my opinion.

Lets hope that cloud moving up from the SW halts.... Gutted im stuck in the office today!

That's amazing, considering how fresh it was this morning.

Temp up to 27.4 today so far, considering the sea breeze which is lovely, and doing it's job of making it feel nice ad fresh, plus cloud, that is hot. Glad it is not july or august, might have broke the record for UK heat today. Wonder how hot it will get in land.

Could be a hot spot.. Still a little way to go would expect top temps between 2-4 :)

Seems as if it's all coming together, at just the right time: warmest air + clearance from the south + warmest part of the day?

Thick threatening cloud bank approaching looking west.

Hoping this doesn't scupper chances of temp reaching above 32C today across a wider area. Love it..
