Do you think that band coming from the north will effect us?

No idea mate, that is a proper radar jobby but I'm not sure I want to stay up and track it. Those showers off the SW coast of Scotland are making a bee line for NE Wales/Wirral area I think, but one to watch.

The members in the Scottish thread reckon it's taking more of a westerly track

Mean while clear skies and everything freezing solid

Going to bed and will get up about 5 to see how the occlusion is doing.  Mention of it had disappeared from the Liverpool TAF but now it's back.

Heard from someone that the precipitation in the Irish Sea is heading towards Cheshire and will head down into Shrops across to Staffs before 3am. Will see.

Overall a fairly dissapointed day after I hoped for a day of sunshine and showers and sadly the fear of the waved front spoiling things came true, things did pick up during the evening but you can only think what IF, if we started with sunshine and showers right away, I don't mean in terms of snow settling but getting more widespread reports of snow falling and of course seeing stunning convective skies, sadly it was not meant to be.

As for the PPN heading down from the South, probably still uncertain on its intensity and what may fall out of the skies but if the Pennines are in the firing line then blizzards is likely because by dawn, there could be some severe gales around, it is certainly one to watch but I'm off too bed now and will see if it goes by tonight's BBC forecasts or the GFS prediction.

All I have had is a sleet/snow shower that lasted about 10 mins. Stuck to car and house roofs but not pavements or roads. Just a thin slushy layer on favourable surfaces.

Complete lat down as usual so far. Just awaiting the light rain that will fall here from that band in Scotland and this dismal cold spell can shove off. :diablo:

Happy for those who have seen proper snow though! Honest! :D

It seems to have shifted west which is not good for those in here :-(

Just got the edge of a larger shower which started as rain and transitioned into hail. It's now moved away.

Yep, winds varying between NNW'y and NW'ly

GFS shows a slight NW'ly shift ahead of that band pushing down from the N

You seen that band forming in front of the main bit that's in Scotland?

I'm waiting to see how these features interact with the Irish Sea. Seen it so many times where weak features pass down then pep up as they interact around Liverpool Bay with the intensity spreading E across the band. It's what the GFS wants later on

Hoping the front moves over to the west a bit more, and that feature in Wales looks really heavy, sure that wasn't forecast

10am damn it. Wish it was at a colder time of day. Marginal springs to mind. Looks plausible tho!
