Unreal. So on the West coast it is snowing and here inland on Costa del South Manchester it is lashing rain?

I think I'm in the worse spot possible for snow in NW England.

It's raining here too. But Wirral is famous for missing out so I'm not surprised

Sleety rain, temp dropping. I expect it to gradually turn more to snow.

Where there was ice 10 minutes ago, there are now puddles, amazing.

It is slowly turning but meh.

I must be no more than 10 miles from you and have heavy snow.

Snowing readily now, all surfaces covered.  Now for the nightmare of getting to work.  Wish it was the weekend

That 100m ASL makes all the difference. It is just weird how it wasn't even sleet through the heavier stuff. I'm about 40m ASL

It is prety much snow now but lighter.

May as well watch it I guess.

Yes it makes a massive difference,

sticking on gritted surfaces in Hyde bus station now. A driver has told me that ridge hill is closed.

Liverpool TAF are now going for pure snow showers overnight tonight, so maybe some promise then as well.

Must be lightning or weight of snow on the lines somewhere locally as the lightbulb has considerably flickered 3 times over the past minute, heart in mouth hoping the leccy will be staying on.

Just happened to me here in Crewe funnily enough. Must be the wind as I think it's definitely rain falling outside!

Still a mix of sleet and wet snow but the wind gusts are fierce.

It would of been spectacular if it had been proper snow when it was heaviest, oh well.

DP's have risen to 0C at Manchester airport.

I don't know where you are in Manchester but I'm on route from withington to Stockport station and it has been settling snow all the way! Getting quite bad now!

Parts of the midlands reporting snow now from this band I think.

Interesting... it means the rain is a direct consequence of the wind direction and not due to a traditional mild sector
