Snow has cleared now but just 5/10 miles further west on trough and we would have had settling snow I think jeth..

I think you're right, it was heavy. Sunny here now, feeling cold though.

BBC had a low of -3°C and the MetO had -1°C.

Reality: 2.9°C

I've noted your posts regarding this issue, is this a new thing that they are getting temps wrong or pretty standard that they over do / under cook temperatures?

Temps have go up from 4C to 4.6C in the last 20 mins.

The odd splodge of rain is landing. We're going to need some intensity I think.

The trough has taken longer to move away east than predicted this morning, which limited the time for temperatures to drop afterwards but is also giving more southerly motion to the showers than was modelled to occur.

Radar precipitation type indicates largely snow but weather stations mainly rain/snow mix if even that. Currently I am under 'snow' but have 90% rain.

Demonstrates the reliance of the type indicator on model data which can be wide of the mark.

4C and rain here. Usual rubbish.

Keep an eye on it though as I have a few big flakes in the mix now, less than 10 minutes down the road and at lower elevation.

We haven't got the intensity here. I've seen the odd flake. It looks darker heading down the A36. Down to 3.8C.

That was a fun hour, the best snow my boy has seen falling and he loved it, also the heaviest I have seen for years but there was no settling.

The heavier burst was only short-lived here, back to light rain with the occasional hint of a flake.

Larger areas of heavier stuff passing both west and east of the area as usual.

I started on the Diazepam early this morning so I'm in a not worried mood about it at the moment as had 15mg of it   I'll probs be passed out soon when it hits me. This is what the South west snow dome is doing to us all, turning us all in to Benzo addicts

  • Thanks 1

When things get a bit tougher I have the step up Tamazapam, it's a break glass in case of an emergency situation, like when it's snowing 1 mile of either side of me and a gap opens :rofl:
