Temp 8C here and overcast, seems tropical compared to last week, what snow there was in fields (not a lot) has all gone, all the large drifts are still here, all main roads are clear but there are still back roads that are impassible due to drifting and abandoned cars, guess these will be left to thaw naturally.

We now have a pond on the lawn with a lump of snow and a carrot! I know it's got milder today but surprised how rapid the thaw is considering the ground was bone hard frozen solid. Had it not been for said pond I'd have put washing on the line seeing as we have sunshine and 9.2c!

Monday to Friday were incredible days, including the first 2 days of March not getting above freezing, how long until we have such a potent winter scenario again!? My 40th birthday will always be memorable for the intense windchill and onset in the evening of the powder snow that laid the foundations for Thursdays insanity.

We had an epic trek up Clearbury early yesterday morning for our sledging.

It was hard going in knee deep drifts at some points. At the top however, conditions were good and fast.

Had to leave mid morning to get to the Saints match (wish I hadn't bothered).

It was surprising how quickly the thaw was setting even in the three hours that we were out on the hill.

The last few weeks has been great. Not just for the eventual cold and snow, but for the whole lead up on Netweather; especially in the S/SW Thread.
Tracking it from the predicted SSW, to the main event felt like we had insider knowledge all the way. Thanks to all in here. :)

Try screenshotting whatever you’re trying to post... I’ve had that issue recently. One of the times I had to screenshot twice for it to work (even though it wasn’t over the size limit!)

Ice will last to go ?

just lifted it out the plant pot..! Then put it in to the freezer storage in deep snow that’s left at the bottom of the garden.

Ah sanity has returned, that's more normal 7 members on line, that's definitely the madness over. Well the day started off as a belter, wall to wall blue skies and continued that way unti the cloud has rolled in this afternoon. A high of 11.4C with a light breeze was quite welcoming.

Looked like my dogs' water bowls over the past few days.Out checking on the local bird population, the water I put out was not frozen and the bird feeders are part eaten so it doesn't appear that the past few days has killed off the bird population completely.
