They  were lying about the number of cases and are now coming clean ! or are putting in measures to stop the spread of the virus which apparently isn’t a problem in Turkey anyway as they’ve got an amazing anti virus forcefield around the country .

Given their location I'd be very surprised if there total isn't at least in the 000s.

Anyway, Germany has ended today up 361 cases, so wihlst a slow start, it has kept pace with France and Spain. Worryingly though several other countries in Europe have seen large increases. Indeed we've had one of the lower end increases in west/central Europe. I do believe it though, since Netherlands is also showing a similar trend to the UK, as is Belgium.

Got to think it is only a matter of time, with so many countries starting to esculate up in totals, that will only increase the chance of importing cases and beginning large spread community spread. Indeed just a few hints London is starting to show this maybe starting, but only hints.

BNO Newsroom

BREAKING: Turkey reports first case of coronavirus

They have a strange numbering system there where one equals a 100!

I wouldn’t believe a word that comes out from any of Erdogans cronies .

Germany is quite interesting - with over 1500 cases but only 2 deaths (for some reason?!). They're fairing well compared to Italy, France and Spain.

That’s not the point . The point is these doctors are being asked to make life or death decisions for their patients which is absolutely awful and will leave many doctors with deep psychological scars .

All the doctors and nurses at the front line of this are absolute heroes .

You missed the cynicism. When oxygen in the blood gets low people desperately start gasping for air to get in all the oxygen they can. Opioids dampen this gasping response, makes them feel calm so people gently die. Increasing morphine dosage to such degree is something many doctors do very frequently already.

Agreed, the best we can do is monitor the situation as closely as we can. South Korea has been the best in this regard I think.

South Korea maybe an exceptionally case, in that a huge percent of their local cases came from one religious sect that was basically tested in its totality and any cases shut down instantly, and then there were just imported cases which they've also pounced on. In truth, whilst they have had alot of cases, most of it has always been under control due to it being acted upon so rapidly.

Not to say they haven't done a great job (both them and China really have been outstanding), but I do think they unfortunately are not the best comparison to what is happening in Europe, which has multiple countries blowing up and importing/exporting cases between themselves and already far too many different groups.

This is my only worry too. The large majority of our population will just get on with life, and do the best they can. BUT, it will only take the small minority, of which 90% will be scum anyway, to cause havoc with rioting, civil unrest, increase in crime etc etc. How bad it would actually be is just pure guessing, but no one can deny that there WILL be scum taking advantage of a situation like this!

Yes its all still there bubbling under the surface, just awaiting the lets go for it 'bruv' innit!

UK new cases clearly being impacted by the flatlining in number of tests we’re doing.

Governments can’t alter their response to the virus for fear of what some morons might do .

You may have forgotten about the riots of August 2011, started over nothing really.....

The first riot in Tottenham was about a guy that got shot by police, after that it was an excuse used by organised gangs for mass looting. The fires in Croydon, and probably elsewhere, were used to divert police resources away from where the main looting was happening.

In the USA some testing is taking so long that the samples expire !

Even worse this happened to a group of firefighters in Washington state . They now have to self quarantine again and won’t be working .

What on earth are they playing at.

Hospital beds per 1000 people could one of the reasons why Germany isn't doing so bad?

The UK's position is disappointing.

They certainly can if the risk is considered widespread and severe enough. Im not saying it is, and Im not saying thats what they're doing, but it has to be considered

In terms of critical care beds the situation is worse . Italy has around 12 per 100,000 population  , the UK 6 . Germany has 29 .

I expect they’re putting more in place but perhaps that German figure illustrates why so far they’ve had very few deaths given the amount of cases .

The NHS is envied though by some because of its efficiency regarding beds. Rather than always having lots of spare beds, they manage them so space and resources aren't wasted. Now I'm not by any means dismissing the implications of that, but that is how it is. I would imagine more beds are being made ready, but this is a one off event, and goes back to the snow plough scenario!
