Completely calm down here at the moment. Waiting for that initial kick straight from the East.

10.6mm of rain so far. A few mm's more to come overnight.

Still very light winds here. Wet though.

Looked like a sting jet just north of Pleneuf and intensifying rain gone over Guernsey Jersey. What power towards the South Coast?

Had a few hours of light rain but it’s started raining heavily now and by the sounds of it the winds started picking up.

Currently at  39.4mm of rain here. Looks likely to break my daily rain record, again.

The rain was relentless! 44.4mm in just over 8 hours.

The wind is missing though. Only 33mph recorded. Nothing like what was forecast.

Not as wet as it looked like it could have been here, 12.6mm so far today. Gusty winds but we're sheltered from the NE so not too surprised it's not stronger.

The East facing coast of South Devon could be a bit blowy.

GFS showing quite some kink in the jet stream as it continues to dive down into North Africa during today, with Alex spiraling within the two arms:

The water vapour image from the Icelandic Met provides a wonderful alternative view of the jet and the storm:

Well rather benign here so far, got a soaking on the school run, but the wind was rather mild. Mind you the se is miles away from the worst part of Alex at the min. Glad the wind behaves tbf as otherwise I might have had trouble getting my son out in the weather, he hates strong winds.

I might have spoke to soon, a few rough gusts coming through now, literally just had to take my bin out of the road.

Can see the winds spiralling around Alex on this, and also the converging winds helping to pep up the rain near to the south coast at the moment.
