Bright and breezy here today, currently around 6C but feeling colder. Looking like a gradual cool down between now and Xmas Eve, then warming up a little for Xmas & Boxing days. After that its looking like snow could be a possibility, especially for anyone with a bit of height. Ski resorts could do well, not that will make any difference given yesterday's news.

BBC weather.

Parts of Wales and Southern England are tipped to record the lowest Christmas day temperatures. No mention of any snow.

Very decent day in the East Neuk. Dry with good sunny spells and a fresh breeze, 8c. I’m looking forward to a drier spell of weather, fingers crossed. Some frost would be good too. Coastal path is still muddy in bits. December temperatures now about 2c above average, as they were last month. The mean should take a dip as cooler weather sets in next week.

Up in Forres for an overnight before heading back home. Clear and cold here with a chilly breeze. 6c according to the car. Dropped to 2c coming through Aviemore. Peaks looking very sparse of the white stuff.

Evening all

Well my plans have changed dramatically since Friday night - was supposed to be on my travels today for Christmas but that has now obviously been cancelled! Hopefully some interesting Winter weather in Scotland as I am now stuck here!  (Worse places to be in the world than home of course! ???????♥️ )

As already discussed in my previous post and by others...snowfall risk to low ground on Wednesday for the NW/N/NE.

Christmas Eve snowfall risk as well - as mentioned by @Kirkcaldy Weather @Ravelin and a few others.

Agree with that post above @Sceptical - Christmas Day begins chilly for us but warms up quickly through the afternoon.

Boxing Day could be quite stormy in the West - my automated forecast for here.

Final few days of December hold some wintry promise - could be lots of rainfall or lots of snowfall for parts of Scotland!

Have a good week everyone. :santa-emoji:

Cooler feel today. Feeding/bedding cattle.Neep field drying up so cows eating more of the neeps and not burying them in mud.Wintry looking showers to the west and Ben Wyvis had a  fresh cap of snow above 3000 feet .  Really strange to see the sky so empty of aircraft contrails in the setting sun. Currently 5c and very windy.

Potential showing again on the 18z for a few to get a white Xmas and followed by something more widespread a mere 7 days away. Eager to see what the warmer temps in the North sea could produce if its snow making was called into action.

A most useable day.

Mainly sunny with light to occasionally brisk SW winds.

More importantly dry and feeling colder than of late with a high of 6.7c.

Happy winter solstice day!

Colder again this morning at 3C. A dry day, cloudy with occasional watery sunshine so far.

Definitely feeling seasonal, wouldn't rule out snow over the next few days.

There’s @shuggee ‘s -10 850 hpa sneaking into the north of Scotland on Christmas Eve F2A96760-63AF-461F-803D-C83DC6D000E5.thumb.png.268839d189f5dfffaf22c0e2a7779d38.png looks like could be a bit of frost tomorrow night 9B0C06BF-AA14-4B01-BBDA-BA7C37E10362.thumb.png.4505abcfaba16e5f6dcc574e0f682640.png main frost will be into Christmas Eve as mentioned and maybe some light snowy showers especially in the north (latest fax chart has the trough in the North Sea mid day on Christmas Eve which I think might be a bit too Far East at that stage) 3B83CD95-B7A2-4B92-9243-91905DE67ACD.thumb.png.02b4c5d8b327be11a35132920721d167.png2C68C36D-F6DD-45E9-8F0B-1A34D454FD6D.thumb.png.011219bad28fd0628ece4cbdc420d192.png

will need to wait until this gets within better range but latest wrf eu has a front crossing Scotland early Christmas morning with a mix of wintry precip think the purple is freezing rain 369B6EA4-4519-401A-AD17-7BC5F2844A24.thumb.jpeg.0adc397876fd077fee543d6c825c2e26.jpeg yeah more runs needed for any confidence on that :cold-emoji:

An overnight low of 1.2C was enough to leave the roads slippy this morning as we headed off for the Xmas food shop, despite the temp at the time being around 4C. High of 5C before midday, with it dropping back to 4C again now. Dry and calm with a light version of the Aberdeenshire permagloom we've been used to so often recently. Tomorrow looking much brighter, with hopefully something 'interesting' later in the week.

Hoping for a clear late afternoon early evening.

We're hoping for clear skies tonight so we can watch Jupiter and Saturn 'join' - the first time the phenomenon has happened in nearly 800 years!

Not only is it the winter solstice but Uranus is combobulated, or something of that ilk, according to the news reports this evening and what can I see of this historically important occurrence? The square root of faff all, that's what. The clouds that produced on-and-off light rain all day are now cloaking the sky in secrecy. How disappointing. Still, the days start stretching out from tomorrow and that at least is nice.

Temperature 5.4deg.C up from a min of 3.6deg.C at 07:23 and down from a max of 7.1deg.C at 12:06, humidity is 95%, wind is 0 to 2mph northerly with a gust of 15mph at 01:42, pressure is 1000.6hPa steady, there's been 1.4mm of rain today and 5.4mm in the last 24 hours, and although Diablo say Snow, he also say dew point is 4deg.C. Go figure.

Another day of Aberdeenshire PermagloomTM but its stayed relatively dry, currently 6.3c but no chance of seeing the 'star'.  Drove across to Stonehaven to my office for the first time in months, to pick up some stationery and no visit to Stoney is complete without a visit to Auntie Betty's ice cream shop regardless of what the weather is doing.  Chill wind coming off the North Sea and the rollers were crashing against the rocks further up the coast.

Just heading south, and stopped for fish supper in Granton. Had a good meeting this afternoon in Brughead, 3 or 4 seals in for scraps from fishermen. IMG_20201221_152938.thumb.jpg.465539fa272cecbc6c0ae50c7ce01a14.jpg

It's been a bit of a rollercoaster but Calgary is home for now, probably permanently if the paperwork works out and my girlfriend doesn't get sick of me like the almost ex-wife did....

Wow   doesn't really cover it! To manage that in the middle of covid must have taken some planning, determination and balls.

Err...  when can we visit?

Well, it finally stopped raining this afternoon! Popped out as it was getting dark to see if I could catch a glimpse of the conjunction, but NAW! A little too much cloud and hills in the way. Bummer. It's a wee bit breezy now, but not terribly cold. Wondering if we'll actually get any white stuff  and cold after Christmas as some charts are promising us! I await with interest the charts for Boxing Day onwards!
