Personally I can’t wait for this promised high pressure to build in and sweep away all the low clouds and drizzle we have been plagued with recently.  I would love snow at Christmas but my second choice is sunny and frosty.   Could go either way….

Very foggy and damp this morning, sort of enveloping semi solid rain cloud.

Unless we can get a cold N easterly feed we cannot get rid of this cloud. We must be getting close to the World record for days with blo ody, drizzle.Sighns are that N Easterly showing up early next week.

Knife edge weather ATM,5c for Xmas eve.Cool stagnant air Monday Tuesday Wednesday, we then start picking up colder continental air from Europe. White word can be used with possible S word for Xmas.

It is looking good, though still have 8 doors to open on my calendar so quite a way yet.

However, even Mr Mild himself is starting to mention the possibility, bring it on.

ECM is showing this chart for snow depth at midnight Christmas Day….

That would be something to remember!   I very much doubt that it will end up as widespread as that but somewhere in Wales could get a white Christmas this year   ❄️❄️

I thought the MAD output peeps were going to commit mass lemmingness when I popped in on page 37.  A super speedy fast forward to page 42 lo they  have retreated back from the cliff edge and are once  more happy snowlemmings.  Toys back in prams….

Mass lemming over cliff rush resumed.  Perhaps we can build a lemming protection barrier from overturned prams, thrown toys and chucked in towels?

The Met Office Long Range updates looking pretty decent for our region, it must be said. A couple of encouraging quotes from them:

22nd - 31st December

Quote

Towards the middle of this period the threat of rain or wintery conditions increases, particularly towards the south and south west.

1st - 15th January

Quote

Any unsettled conditions during the start of this period are most likely to be confined to west and south-western regions, where longer spells of rain, and perhaps areas of snow, are possible with occasional strong winds. Through January, cold air is signalled to develop and remain in place across parts of Europe. From here, there is a chance that an easterly wind could bring periods of cold weather, and associated wintry hazards, to the UK.

This is possibly suggestive of sliding lows trying to make in roads, bringing the threat of snow as it bumps against colder air nearby.

Well nimby nimby wars could start here….  South west Wales in snow line, north east Wales in rain… but you are welcome, as we had nice bit last year and, no doubt, will get more, hopefully in the  first two weeks of Jan 2022, when no doubt, we will have Ohmigod firebreak.

That's  the best thing about mad thread, doesn't matter if the Met says blizzards in 5 days time they won't believe them. But no snow in East UK snow in the west will turn to rain.No easterly wind they cannot get snow in there heads. Still think this type scenario we will see a few times over the next few weeks. Sweden Norway etc temperatures are dropping like a stone.Simple thing to remember charts cannot cope with easterly wind that's why each day forecasts are different.
