Problem is ATM the main band of snow will travel down central and Eastern UK which is closer to the Low pressure system. We cannot rule out rogue heavy showers. So radar watching is required.

I'm not so sure, Keith. The 12Z has shifted the main band slightly westwards, which now puts Wales on its western edge instead of being at the mercy of showers, and DPs look just about low enough. Somewhere like the Heads of the Valleys and higher locations further north could see a few cm, I suppose, with some falling snow at lower levels but struggling to settle.

Again, this is an unusual setup. Forecasting a typical Atlantic storm is pretty straightforward because we know of the areas most susceptible to orographic lift (Snowdonia, Beacons, Valleys) and peak gusts (Aberdaron, Mumbles), but the specifics in Wales with a low plunging down from the north are harder to predict.

Im off to Bute Park christmas lights soon, hopefully the worst of any weather can wait till I get home! Wouldn't mind a snow shower to make it festive though!

Looking in the other threads, its looking quite scary in NW England/Scotland. I love a storm but would not want to be up there with those 90-100mph wind gust predictions. Hope they all stay safe.

On off heavy hail squally showers all late afternoon and evening.  Are delivery drivers in white vans equipped with superpowers?  Cos some of them round here pelting around and doing the odd surprised skid as they round the corner on hail strewn road……

Very icy out there mix of hail and snow accumilated on most surfaces, rather surprised to see the temperature so low early on!

Did anyone in North Wales, in the vicinity of Prestatyn or Colwyn Bay and even as far inland as Yr Wyddgrug/Ruthin just see those big power flashes near the coast?

Very rare northerly severe gale here. I've seen a few flashes to the north so I'm guessing somewhere further inland has just lost power.

Amazing how quick that wind has come up. It was barely blowing and suddenly within 30 mins is severe gale. Very loud outside.

Couldn’t sleep for the noise last night - thought the roof was coming off for certain.  Just went outside to check and I was nearly blown over by a gust as I went around the side of the house, so still a howling gale here.  Lots of loose stuff flying around and the trees are being tested.   And it feels cold.  Couldn’t see any damage to the roof, though. .    Aberporth has now reported 81mph max gust, Aberdaron 76mph and Pembrey 75mph.   Must have been wild out at Strumble Head……

Some pretty strong gusts thismorning out there. I live in a bit of a sheltered being at the bottom of a small hill my street is on but the wind still sounded like it was trying to come through the bedroom window!

Looking further ahead, we will warm up for a short while before maybe another cold spell? Fingers crossed!

Yep awful night. Quite a bit of damage in our garden. Tiles lifted, concrete pillars moved , washing line damaged and a large trampoline has parked itself in our garden  too

Blinkin eck what a night!   Snoring husband slept through it, but it  was a howling wind of biblical proportions.   Snowy haily things hurled at windows. Casualties- 16 hour power cut, haven’t dared look in freezer, hoping it stayed cold enough until power returned.  Tree down in garden, shed roof ripped off.  A lot of tree damage around, neighbours ash tree fell only missing their house by about 6 foot.  Perishingly cold wind all day.  Power now back on, heating on, fire on, me thawing out.

Interesting developing streamer over the Irish Sea,as the winds veer more to a Nwesterly some places in Wales could see a dusting in places.

we've had hail/sleet showers here on and off all day. That more organised and heavy precipitation might see something more wintery, certainly the hills up the road.
