Little rain overnight and some light rain around this morning. Amounted to 1.52mm.

Rather boring weather at the moment but will be nice to see some sunshine towards the middle of the week.

I've had a new weather station too so feel free to take a look. Looking forward to some higher temperatures in the summer and UV levels to test the station's UV function:

There's no denying it's a gorgeous day today, but sitting in my garden quite comfortably in a t-shirt (with only the hint of a chill in the air) as tulips poke through and wallflowers bloom, something does feel very wrong. The only suggestion that it's January and not late March is the low sun in the sky.

Still, I'd happily take this over the endless oppressive gloom of the last month, and all the worry of flooding that heavy rain brings to our house.

Quite a hard frost this morning in our little frost pocket with sub-0 temp, clearer elsewhere.  Gorgeous blue sky day here.  Currently 8 in the sun, 5 in the garden as sun has swung behind Nantyr Hill.

If we can’t have snow, I pick this weather instead.  NO RAIN in the forecast here for the next week, maybe even ten days!  Sunny and dry - lovely!   Wasn’t it like this last January for a while ?  This could all change, of course and I’m not putting any bets on…..

Another glorious day, albeit very cold and very frosty this morning.  Hard grass frost dog walking this morning and still iced puddles in beautiful sunshine in the lunchtime walk.  Dog number two to vets tomorrow am, forecast mist, I hope not, it’s 8 miles over the tops or a 20 mile trip over the bottoms…..

After a few very foggy mornings and misty days in Barry it's finally a clearer morning. Was chilly yesterday under the fog, only got to 5C and had our lowest minimum last night at -0.4C. Sad to say that our lowest temp as it use to get below that on a fairly regular occasion in winters past. Nice to have a proper frosty, seasonal morning though!

Had to laugh yesterday - couldn’t see out of the garden because of thick fog in our part of the Preselis but had to go to Fishguard and just up the road the fog cleared.  All the way to Fishguard was bathed in quite warm, wall to wall sunshine and looking absolutely lovely.  Then back home and just at the top of our lane the fog was still there and hung around all evening.  It’s gone this morning, though, although there has been a sharp frost overnight.  I quite like this weather because it’s possible to work outside without getting wet!

Another heavy frost here, currently -2 but clear skies so top run to vet should be ok.  My veg garden looking festive with frost on the kale.  Hope that buggers the cabbage white caterpillars!

The road over tops from Glyn dropping into Llangollen.  Roads so white with frost it looked like snow.  Needless to say, journey back from vets along the bottoms.

Another week or so is of this weather would be great. While the USA is stuck in the deep freeze this weather should last.Shows the power of  a strat warming event.

The neighbour’s drive at 2 o’clock this afternoon, interesting pattern between drive that had sees sunlight and that which didn’t.  Temp back down to 1 from a high of 6.  I love days like these.  This is winter, snow is not our natural winter state.

Another frost this morning, but not as deep.  Frost now gone, but no blue skies, just cloud, which is Pegging temperature at about 4 degrees, chilly and dull.

Crivens! A bit blinkin chilly today.  Currently 4 Celsius, shrouded in cloud.  Heating in day back on.  Can manage when it’s about 6-8 outside with sunshine to warm the house but this is ugh.

Yes….it’s very dull and dreary just now and quite cold with it, but I’ll definitely take this over constant gales and non-stop rain every time.   Looks like no snow in the foreseeable but we’ve got all of February and March still to go and the weather can turn in a matter of days so winter 2022 is not over until it’s over….

The cool, calm and mostly dry January is over and looks to be followed by an unsettled, mostly windy and less dry early February.  A breezy start to the day here with sun breaking though the fast moving clouds but it still feels pretty cold out there.  No snow in the immediate forecast but it can’t be ruled out for quite a while yet.  For the time being we are stuck with weather from the Atlantic which means cloudy and windy with some rain ahead.  However, it’s nice to see the daffs beginning to show themselves!

January, here in Bridgend was rather boring, but we did see the mildest and the coldest temperatures of the winter so far. We've had a lot of cold(ish) days but it's been rather gloomy even under the high pressure that has dominated for the majority of the month.

Here's January in numbers:

Max wind gust: 29.5mph
Average Wind Direction: WSW
Max Temperature: 14.9C
Min Temperature: -3.9C
Average Temperature: 5.9C
Rainfall: 96.52mm
Max pressure: 1,043.01 hPa
Lowest pressure: 993.91 hPa

Jolly lovely morning,  sun, blue sky, quite fresh breeze.  You can tell commercial life back to normal, sky littered, if that is the right word, with contrails.

interesting cloud formation on the tops walking the Norman Dog.

Snow on the tops this morning I got, nothing at our level.  Occasional wintry sleety coldy showers.  My mi d has moved to spring and veg seed sowing so roll on spring and don’ be too cold this year, especially as the electricity cap has been sent skyward!  We are waiting installation of solar battery to give us harvested power in evenings from solar panels.
