Yeah just took the bin out, snowing only slightly heavier than it was most of the day but is now settling easily in cars and wheelie bins and starting to settle on the grass too. A 15 minute heavy burst and we'd have a nice covering ready for tomorrow I reckonCould contain: Car, Transportation, Vehicle, Machine, Spoke, Alloy Wheel, Car Wheel, Tire, Wheel, Outdoors

Cars, roofs and road edges starting to cover here at this modest height.

Didn't expect this tonight.

Light snow in Strensall. Just driven up from Kent this afternoon/evening and the deepest snow was at the top of Wroutham Hill on the M20. Absolutely nothing after that.

Really light snow here.

Wonder if we're going to get much through the night

Pavements and roads seem to have a lot of heat at this time of year.

Temp is -1c at LBA and -0.6c here, we have a nice covering on grass/trees/roofs, everything basically apart from the roads and pavements despite the sub-zero temps.

I noticed this when we had that snow in March 2018, temps were well below freezing but the snow seemed to thawing on pavements, especially those that catch plenty of sun during daylight hours.

Under a mini streamer of moderate snow now, heaviest we've had today. What stands out is how slowly the flakes are falling! This is actual speed lol

had a strange one somewhere in 2000's. Night time temps -2C started snowing so went out for a walk in it about 2cm on the ground. Walked round for a bit the snow stopped and it started to freeze cars skidding all over the place had  a laugh with one driver who pulled over  to have a rest. Five minutes later started melting went home went to bed. Next morning woke up all gone from the grass as well as pavements yet the temperature hadn't got above freezing all night.

The only reason I can think of was that the snow had pollution in it that lowered the melting point.

Still snowing on and off at Lincoln, 1.1C at the University's weather station, not really settling but I noticed some slushy deposits on cars.

Will never forget that day.. had a superb dumping of snow in a very strong easterly wind.. HP over Scandinavia and a low bumping into it led to a stalling front that pivoted and was totally epic,, i was living in Leeds at the time and drove up the M62 onto Pennines ,,was like Siberia up there and there drifts were really deep.

Be good to see how it pans out next day or so.  Suspect we'll see mostly sleet and rain here, we do struggle for snow in Doncaster, just too low down.

Will be fun in the peaks though.

Still snowing lightly with a temp of -0.2c. Should fizzle out in the next few hours. A decent dusting on all surfaces bar roads and pavements. I'm sure they'll be a decent covering on those once the heavier stuff arrives tomorrow.

i do wonder, if the snow falling that's not settling on roads, concrete etc.. will this be nicking  heat out of the surfaces and cooling them? could be very icy in the morning if skies clear during the night.. would also make for a readily receptive surface for the main course 🙂🙂

Just watching the radar and everything Derby and below is heading east, everything above is heading west.

Light snow here still, been a while now but it's just not settling. Only on cars and some surfaces but paths and road clear.

Hope I'm looking at a different situation this time tomorrow! 🌨️🤞

I'm really nervous with excitement 🤣
