Amazing difference in just a few miles!  Very little snow left on pavements and roads now, just on the grass.  Will be interesting to see if we get a change back to snow when the heavier precip over Sheffield reaches us.

as you say, it's amazing what just a few miles and a bit of elevation can do. still snowing heavily here!

Buckle up folks in the amber warning. This isn't something to hype up nor is it something to dismiss early on either.

It's valid until 12pm Friday... That's 21 hours of potential.

Let's ride it out and enjoy it ❄️

Best snow in years now here. Really heavy and the paths and road have finally given up the fight 🤣

Lovely to watch 🌨️🌨️🌨️

Good to hear positive reports further south, Back to sleety rain now in North Leeds with a temp and dew of 1c. Heavier stuff should hopefully land within the hour. Fingers crossed!

Lets hope so, it has gone darker.  0.7c here with drip drip but that stuff to the South looks very interesting...perhaps it will cause rush hour carnage.  A know a number of people who think that it is and have started venturing out.  Lets face it drip drip normally means the end of a snow event but not today.

Lets hope so - i always thought later this evening would be best. Cookridge has a bit more elevation than Roundhay so hopefully less marginal for you!

Well, that was a much better effort over the last 30 minutes or so.  Fairly heavy snow with decent sized flakes, so we now have a good covering on pavements and local roads again.

Temp has dropped further to 0.4c and dewpoint is back to zero, so any melt should now be minimised.  Looking a bit lighter at the moment but wind appears to be changing to south easterly compared to earlier when it was coming from predominately north west.

Seems to be turning to snow again but still too light to do anything meaningful (need the temp to drop a bit) - keeping an eye on the heavier precipitation coming in over Liverpool. If it survives the Pennies could hit our region peak rush hour..!

Just at the start here of the echoes from the SW. Graupal and snow.

Hopefully temps start to slowly drop soon.

@vizzy2004 I saw you were in Rosedale this morning.  Hope you weren’t planning a trip over Blakey this afternoon, as it’s starting to look tricky! 😁

Just at Sutton Bank. Will grab some photos in a bit, had my lunch at Newgate above Helmsley nice covering up there. (Pic attached)

Back home it’s a sad state of affairs with the temperature stuck at 1.7°C with sleet, no sign of the temperature budging anytime soon and all this precipitation is going to waste.

Yeah getting heavy here now, just need bigger flakes. Radar filling in nicely so I'm feeling positive.

Let's hope so. We closed school an hour early today so just got home. 3C and raining in Castleford when I left so I was glad to see there was still some laying snow here.

I haven't been able to keep up with anything at work today, could anyone tell me the latest forecast are we still in for more snow into tonight?

After a 1h break it's starting again here. This is the issue with these setups in March. When ppn stops temp is going up straight away even under overcast conditions.

Looks fantastic.  Will keep an eye on the Sutton Bank road camera as debating whether go to Hutton tomorrow via our usual route of A1 and Sutton Bank  or via A64 to Malton then Pickering.  A decision for tomorrow morning I think! 😁
