Rain followed me all the way to N Yorkshire this afternoon, with the rain on the moors being particularly heavy. However, this has cleared away now leaving Whitby dry and quite bright before sunset, although none too warm. A big change from 18th July 2022!

the weather is just shocking to say it's mid summer!

we've got 13.6C and thick cloud with showers.

I don't expect red hot temps, but it should be better than this! 😒

A nice day spoilt by a monsoon shower at 4pm in Pickering. Half thought we might hear/see some thunder and lightning but nothing noted. Showers and dark clouds have headed off now in Whitby and a cool comfortable night in prospect, with the possibility of a half-decent day tomorrow.

After heavy rain most of the day yesterday it was a lovely start to the morning on the wolds. There was low cloud hanging in the bottom of the valleys but above was very promising 😊. Sun is just coming out now here in Brough. Fingers crossed the forecast is right today (it changed constantly yesterday and didn’t give an accurate description of the heaviness of the rain🤷🏼‍♀️).

Nice light…

A mixed day on the N Yorkshire moors. Periods of warm sunshine in the morning but some rain in the afternoon and none-too-warm. As I was leaving NY, it poured down (as yesterday) at Pickering and again on the A64 close to the junction with the M1. A bit puzzling therefore that the weather forecast from Tomasz S on R4 at 6pm should talk of 'very isolated showers'. Well, the Vale of York must have been a hotspot for the showers or the forecast was wrong. Either way, definitely not a summer-y day. Back next week.

I find the BBC forecasts to be the least accurate of any sources. I don't know who provides their forecasts but I ignore them.

No T & L but a torrential downpour.
Water soon an inch deep around the hard paving areas.
Going to be a soaker of a w/e .

Strange, but we had exactly the same on Wednesday afternoon and again yesterday evening in Pickering and along the A64 towards Leeds. The area seems to be a magnet for these torrential downpours. Back home in Cheshire, we have had none of them.

Yesterday evening, driving back from Driffield @6pm it was torrential, down to 30mph on main road, aquaplaning was a real issue in places,

Yes this might be one of the worst summer weekend of weather in many years! Little to no sunshine, persistent rain, hill fog and below average temperatures. 30-50mm looks likely around here.

Of course, Tramlines and Pax in the Park are on as well 😕

Probably the worst since 2012. Truly as bad as it gets.

Louise L (BBC R4) was talking last night of Sunday being much better, with 'sunshine and only isolated showers'. So the yellow weather warning is all tosh and England cricketers will have plenty of time to bowl the Ozzies out at Old Trafford. We shall see, but let's just say I am not holding my breath, either for tomorrow or for my lottery numbers tonight!

So far steady rain here but nothing out of the ordinary, tomorrows forecast looks wet, but not yellow warning wet here. We are right at the edge of the warning area.

Yesterday there were some heavy showers, bike ride ended up being delayed by 45mins, and was completed in the dry. However yesterdays rain was very patchy, with no rain at all at lunchtime up beyond Grindale airfield, where as in the village we had a substantial spell of moderate rain.

Feels more like winter than summer today, heavy rain and a quite cool 13'c.

Pity those holidaying here in UK with this weather, next week looks unsettled too.

Well a much better day than expected. Dry afternoon doesn't feel particular cold either. However down south a wetter day than forecast. No idea what tomorrow will bring.

You may be lucky, in a lot of set ups Brid will miss some of the rain even when other places up and down the coast are wet.

Really frustrated about tomorrows forecast. Been keeping a close eye on Sunday all week. The rain band was meant to be in the south at first, then across Scotland, and only in the last day have they said it’s coming through Yorkshire and the north. It just goes to show how hard the path of these rain bands is to forecast.

Better Sunday than forecast with some bonus sunny spells the rain of band is still edging north in the east and edging south but weakening over Ireland so could be bad weekend for the met office.

Constant heavy rain since yesterday evening here in Thirsk and around 40mm of rain in the last 24 hours. This is turning into one of the worst July in a long time.

What a miserable weekend! Temperature hardly climbing above 16c and constant rain. It is also now the wettest month since i relocated to Leeds last summer, with 126mm of rain so far (and the GFS suggests up to another 20 to 25mm before months end). Hopefully August redeems itself. June was good but I've yet to record 30c (29.2c so far)!
